I thaught same but still got them professionally cut out and plated months ago then they still advised it as corroded and it is not. The other annoying thing I'd they must have smoke checked it with a cold engine as it takes a good 10 mins on the motorway to get up to temperature and it I'd running on bio with practically no smoke at running temperature. Also the exhaust is months old with new rubbers when it was fitted and the rubbers failed and exhaust advised as corroded!

I had a big hole in drivers footwell, Local Landrover Specilist MOT garage told me that it is Not a fail, was quite suprised as it was a big hole. Then another MOT garage 2 mile down the road said that it is Definatly a fail, all depends where you go.

Then there's theese two holes in the arch Wich I thaught would not have been a problem...

Bit of a bad day but in a way problems where found early - at least that's what I'm telling myself to cheer me up lol. Total bill will be £610 as he repaired my spring mount too.

£610 is pretty cheap as there's a fair bit of labour involved in welding the chassis up (ask me how I know) I take it you're not up to doing it yourself?

just about cheaper to re chassis. 2 years or so and it will be another big chuck of money

Your a bloody idiot. A chassis is £1000 - £1300 BEFORE labour and other parts. You don't half pedal some ****.

Look at Pikey he chased/fought rusty chassis for how long? Repaires will never end. New chassis and forget about it for 20 years or more. Money well spent, cheaper in the long run

I agree he is fixing all the other stuff as well as the welding too and he has allready spent the morning on it repairing the spring mount. Im happy he is doing it as he has had a few landrovers too. I bet that would be nearly half the price at some places just for the spring mount fixing. And no iv not welded before - thaught bout it but think it's best left to a professional welder. Especially when I have my girlfriend/kids in the back!

Don't hold back there mate, tell it like it is:eek: Although you only said what I was thinking:D

I did my own eighteen months ago for the price of 4 spring hangers a square metre of steel. Saving up for a galv chassis though but I'd expect me current chassis to easily last a good couple of years

you suggested that it owuld be cheaper than £610 to re-chassis it. Might be cheaper in the long run but not everyone has the cash to bung into a re-chassis.

Your just an internet know-it-all. A boring one at that.
