So alas mine failed yesterday and looks like it may be the end of the line

Brakes pipe from the air tank to the rear need replacing and the drivers side sill has rotted out , on top the rear lower wishbones

The mot station is going to drop it back off to me either today or tomorrow on a flat bed

Know it sounds daft but absolutely gutted after all the hard work

expect the work would be around 1k to just get it passed the MOT then the rear lower arms on top at a later date so would add an extra 7-800

Once back home I’ll be able to pull the plastic cover off to see the extent of the rust

Massive thk u as always

Once it comes back I’ll strip the plastic sill covers off to see how bad it is and get some pics

See new sill plates are around £72 each side

Know if it goes into the seat belt area it’s game over , but won’t worry u til I know more

Can’t thk everyone enough as it means a lot and will of course keep this updated once I get it back and take some pics

Many thks , spoke to the mot guy and he said it was the drivers sill

Really hope it’s not spread into the inner one as that I feel would be game over

Indeed will know more once I get it back and get the covers off

Don’t mind admitting my foot will be in my mouth as I peel the covers off

Wished to add that I’m so very grateful to everyone for the fantastic help

Found an interesting video and was shocked how far the rust can travel , along with the guy buying second hand panels cut off another d3

From what I’ve read leaves and mud that’s behind wheel arch liners causes issue along with side steps

My rock sliders are bolted on to the chassis via large brackets as I assume the ones fitted to the sills allow water to wick down the bolts and to the inside of the sills

Here goes, neighbour very kindly got the sill cover off 😭😭

Oh mate that looks dire. I don't think it will buff out.
Are the sections available and can you do the welding or do you know someone that can?

Must confess my heart dropped

Suppose the positive note is the chassis is solid, rust hasn’t gone into the rear wheel arch or the floors or mounting points

Indeed u can get the inner and outer sills for around £200 , alas is all spot welded and I wouldn’t be able to take it on

Have been recommend to several mobile welders

I’ll try and get some pics full length in the day time as had to wait for my neighbour to get home who very kindly got them off for me

As you say, not as dire as it could have been. Best of luck with it all mate!

Thks mate

Am pleased with the dinitrol treatment of the chassis as it’s solid with no rust marks what so ever so that’s a bonus and proves it works seeing it’s right next to the sill area

Suppose next port of call, is to see what the mobile welders says

Plus looking at the outer part I wonder if these come off as see the plate ends along the red line

What are they? some sort of plastic plugs? If said welder is going to need to get inside won't you need to get them out anyway?
