My landrover freelander 2 (50, 000 miles) has just failed it's MOT on

O/S/F Lower Arm Ball Joint split/leaking grease
and
osf strut mount worn

I've been quoted £800+ to fix this which seems exorbitant, am i right???

A few weeks ago the OSF spring broke and I don't think the garage who repaired it knew what they were doing, after driving it away there were some knocking sounds, when I went back they said it hadn't been seated properly and (apparently) fixed it. At the time they said there was no damage to the mount. Now I'm wondering if they've made a hash of it and this has led to the MOT fail?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I thought so. Quote was from Landrover dealership. Do you think spring replacement could have caused damage??

is there no one other than dealers that can do it, not that hard.
