ive got a new phone number, as i have a new role at my company I work for, ill "start a conversation" as its called now

Got me pressure tester yesterday to check the cooling system, currently it would use about 4ltr of antifreeze to get to spain, also not the read diff is getting worse, I'll try to get another one. I'm going to take a rain check on this trip now.

Ok, one leak found in the top radiator pipe, pipe now fixed, need to take it out for a few miles, I did a run today the engine is pretty cool and no pressure built up in the system. So next thing is a longer run and also check to see if there are more leaks, if I do say 1,000 mile and the fluid does not go down I will be happy.

No the dam diff.....

Ken is going in a couple of weeks, I think that's it, I've sulked and put my 110 up for sale and it should be sold next week.

I've been watching this thread with a view to meeting up at some point, somewhere. Sorry to hear that you've all pulled the plug.

Is there anyone still going this easter then?

We might go later this year or easter next year.
I might be up for a trip later, but my Defender will not be ready in time for this Easter. It went in for a respray on the 4th January. I dropped in this morning and progress seems slow. He says it should be ready end of next week. ( 19th Feb) but he has been saying that for the last couple of weeks now. Then I need to do a couple of jobs. I had the steering pump overhauled just before it went in for the respray. It has a serious leak, so it will be out from one garage and into another to get it fixed. Plus I have to sort out this whine and vibration. At least I will have the smartest looking Defender whilst I'm waiting for the breakdown vehicle.

8 days to go.
110 been trying to start itself its obviously keen to go but got lodged into the side of the tractor- turns out it was a glued up starter relay.

I will be going back, but I'm not done with getting Jo sorted yet, most of the parts should be here tomorrow and then I get my spanners out this weekend. However, still have the Diff and front end to sort out. Also I'm in USA next week for best part of 2 weeks.

Nope, I'll go again, just need to get the car done, I have also now found a core plug leak, seems like the engine in the car needs some TLC, doing the rear diff tomorrow and then try to see if I can fit core plugs without taking the engine out, until I cure this I'm not going to take it on very long runs.

Are you all "out" for the near future, then?
I think Oldun is still going, I saw a post where he is meeting up with some other guys. Mr Nasty I believe has his Defender up for sale , if he hasn't sold it already. My Defender is still being resprayed. It's getting close to being done, but then I have a couple of other jobs that will need doing. I had the steering pump recently overhauled which is leaking so it has to go back in for that. I will not be ready for a March trip but plan on going again perhaps later in the year. I definitely want to do the Atlantic coast side at some point.

The Defender went up for sale for all of a couple hours and is now gone. It's been replaced with this.

NOW LETS WAIT AND SEE HOW LONG IT WILL BE BEFORE YOU START MISSING YOUR EX;
does look nice and in time for the summer.

29th February, dropped round to see how the respray is coming along on my Defender. he's had it since the 4th January. Still nowhere near ready. He still has to knock out a couple of dents on each side of the tub.

T think I would be changing my resprayer.

Well got back yesterday - Peter got all his docs/cash stolen so only got as far as Tarifa - and my front diff is leaking. If I can get my diff fixed may try again next week.

Hi Oldun, sorry to hear about the problems. Can you tell us how Peter had his docs/cash stolen? I only ask as if there is a new trend/method of theft or scam it may help others to be pre-warned. The area around Algeceras has been getting dodgier for a while but Tarifa seemed ok last time we went through? It's one of the main reasons we start our trips from near Malaga (the other being the airport for our customers to fly into) and ride/drive straight in to the port without stopping.
