I have a couple of 19J manifolds if you are still stuck.
nevermindhow much do u want to pay for a 19j turbo and manifold ,prob got hoses aswell ,,when i built my lightweight put a de turbod 19j in it hence may have hoses etc will have to check but defo have manifold and turbo ,,,
If i blank off the pipe i won't get any boost, for it is that type that forces more fuel in to the cylinder, so i will need to get a new injector pump.Will you need to change the injection pump? Or can you just blank off the pipe from the turbo to the pump?
Do you know precisely where i can grab an oil supply for the turbo from the oil filter housing?oil filter housing, also theres a main gallery plug on rear of block but im not sure if theres enough room for a banjo bolt because of the fly wheel housing

I could do that, unfortunately I would be changing the engine number, so in the event of a crash I can be blamed because they could argue that the car should not have been on the road. A 12j belonged in this car from factory, modifying it would be legal. Not to mention the cheapest 19j over here is 1270€!!Dude you might aswell buy a TD engine and rebuild it (or use the parts on yours) as your essentially making a TD

No, it cannot be re-registered because from my understanding french authorities will check every inch of the vehicle to make sure it is a standard 90. If my engine fails catastrophically, i can get a replacement 2nd hand banger for not too much.Is your LR a French LR? Could it be done in the UK and registered here then registered with its new engine in France?
What happens if your engine fails catastrophically, the block is damaged, what do the French authorities allow you to do re. a replacement engine? What if the replacement so happened to have turbo on it?
That's just how stupid the french are! i can swap the engine, that's all very well. But in the event of a crash, the insurance could well say that the engine was the cause of the crash, and therefore i would not be covered. However, tuning/modifying an engine IS legal as long as it's declared to the insurance company. It sounds really stupid because it is. I would allready have a 300tdi in this thing.So you can't swap the engine but as long as the block number stays the same you could swap all the internals and external components to make it a TD and still be within the law? Got you!
I've done a fair load of research as to why the 19j engines failed, most of them were never fitted with intercoolers. I will be fitting one to this engine to try and avoid any mishaps, because i believe with an intercooler fitted it will be alright.The 15J (your engine) and the 19J were more or less the same engine with the addition of the turbo - LR did some modifications to try and help it cope with the additional stresses notably new pistons, Nimonic steel valves, crankshaft and block were also modified. Generally the 2.5 Turbo Diesel was a flop. It was not a good engine and caused LR a lot of issues at the time as they became notorious for these weak TD engines.
So taking that all into consideration do you still want to turbocharge your 15J as it stands?

From what i could gather intercooler reduces the temperature inside the cylinder and probably does some other stuff too
