Every time I look at posts on different sites everyone recommends I put a 200tdi in my 90.
Unfortunately, I live in a ****e country where changing the engine would land me in the brown stuff. So how would I go about getting more power out of a 2.5n/a? I'm going to be using it for towing so definitely something I want done. I'm considering sticking a turbocharger on it because my engine would support a turbo, of course with a bit of work. Can anyone guide me through this process and also suggest any other possibilities?
Cheers

More info and another question popped to mind:
I will replace the rad with a disco one, so as to get an intercooler fitted.
In regards to injection pump, i will need to replace the n/a one for sure, but can i fit a tdi one for example?

Looks like turbocharging is best option left to you in your quest to squeeze more power out of your engine. With regards to the fuel injection pumps, I don't believe they are interchangeable between the 2.5na and the 200tdi. The 200tdi has different injection pressures and injectors for its direct injection design which would be incompatible with the 2.5 na head design. That said, I believe there are specialist workshops that can rebuild your existing FIP for a bit more oomph

youd need to swap pistons for coated td pistons, and use the td injector pump, some na blocks have the oil feed and return holes

Okay, right, i was planning on replacing the pistons for TD ones due to a few stories i read online.
Anyway, i looked at my engine a bit more today and it does not have the feed and return things on the block. So i have an idea of how i would do the return, but where would i get the feed from? I do have an idea, being i could put a T piece on the pipe that runs from the block to the head, and split off to the turbo, but have you got any other ideas?

I have managed to source a couple of TD injectors 2nd hand, f$%k buying a new one!!!

Another question: could i use a discovery 300tdi exhaust manifold and turbo? it looks like it will bolt straight on, then i can send the turbo pressure to the intercooler then straight back in to the 2.5n/a manifold, as for the downpipe i could use one from a 2.5n/a to 300tdi conversion kit, couldn't i? since i would be doing pretty much the same procedure?

oil filter housing, also theres a main gallery plug on rear of block but im not sure if theres enough room for a banjo bolt because of the fly wheel housing

Okay, brilliant i'll see what i can do tomorrow! thanks for your help!
i will need to consult your knowledge quite a few more times i would imagine :D

how much do u want to pay for a 19j turbo and manifold ,prob got hoses aswell ,,when i built my lightweight put a de turbod 19j in it hence may have hoses etc will have to check but defo have manifold and turbo ,,,

Well, if i can get the 300tdi manifold to fit i'll have a manifold and turbo for bugger all. I was looking at buying manifolds online, but with any luck i can get the 300tdi to fit.
