Had to be towed up this hill!! been up loads of times easy in the dry but yesturday was raining....you can see my skidmarks from trying to get up a few times

It should do that just fine. There's obviously something wrong with the drive train.
 
The prop is missing... or do you mean even without the 4 wheel drive should be able to do it ? It goes up there easy in the dry it is quite slippy and mossy the picture doesnt really do the steepness justice its actually difficult to walk up its that steep. I noticed only one wheel was sqealing and slipping
 
With no propshafts fitted, you're down to 1 wheel drive. Moss is slippery stuff when wet, especially if it's on smooth concrete. It'll be a combination of factors like wet moss, FWD only and possibly summer rated tyres.

Yeah thats what i though. Ive got yokohama geolandar a/t g015 tyres on. Ill just have to make sure my next landy acutally has all its bits intact when i buy it !!

Geolander 015 are good tyre in most conditions, but you obviously found one were they're not so good.
Did you know it wasn't running 4X4 when you bought it?

If the camber of the surface your driving caused a front wheel to lift slightly, then that will affect traction enough to make any tyre types completely hopeless.

Its a really ****ty drive its steep the tarmac is falling apart its covered in moss and its also on cliffs that are definitley eroding... I didnt know it wasnt 4 wheel drive when i bought it,i badly needed a car for work the next day and it was dirt cheap I went to view after work in the dark i had a quick look underneath and saw the VCU and stupidly assumed all of the drivechain was all there. Surprise surprise the sellers phone has been off since i bought it.

Going up hill the front end will be lighter. As freelance said yer could have tried reversing up so more weight was on the front wheels.

Are the tyre pressures correct? Too high and yer have less tyre ont road.
