hi my p38s drivin me mad started of as a miss so i done a presure test but only no three cylinder on the left bank is down so i put some oil down and tested again no change so i striped it down replaced the head gasket and had the values reground and head skimed and still the same still down on only that one cylinder can any one help thanks
 
hi dutch i had the head pressure tested m8 what`s the chances of a dodgey cam follower as some days it won`t do it but that compression is low on that cylinder when it does it cheers

i had the same problem on no4 cylinder turned out to be a broken piston ring
 
thanks m8 mines done a liner so new engine looking around for one but i`m gonna try a 40 out not so bad iv`e heard;)
 
4.0 - 4.6 good advice.

A while back I rebuilt and stripped a few 4.0 and 4.6 V8s and saw many of the regular problems - I have just put my web site back up again now that I have returned from working in the Oil industry and some time :) www.ajmac.co.uk it has lots of the later Rover V8s.

Anyway, if you serious about keeping the car, I would strip your engine and get 'top hat liners' fitted, it's expensive (700ukp - ish) then rebuild your 4.6 internals back up inside it, you will have a bomb proof engine.:)
