Fitted new Mintex rear brake shoes over the weekend on a S3 lightweight everything went well until it came to adjusting them up!
then the fun started .....as soon as the adjuster came into contact with the adjuster stud it dropped out into the drum !!! so off they came and a spot of weld put on to hold them in place ....has anyone else had this problem with Mintex shoes or am i just the lucky one :(

think you must have got lucky :D

I always use mintex, I like the way the ends are chamfered.

but I do use Lockheed Delphi cylinders - approx. half the price of lucas/trw - because the first trw I bought was duff out of the box, guess we all get lucky sometimes

This has been a known problem with Mintex for at least 12 months , there latest version is said to be ok looks like you got old stock.
Lots of mention of it on the Series 2 forum.

Come to think of it i did buy these about 18 months ago !!! it was no big deal to repair them just annoying having to take them off again :(

Had the same issue about 18 months ago...spent ages adjusting the shoes properly just to find that after a couple of applications on the brakes it wouldn't pull up straight. After taking the drums off twice to inspect I spotted the problem. My adjuster pins hadn't fallen out but one had become wobbly meaning you could never correctly adjust the brakes.

Damn dangerous really .... Think about what could happen they let go in an emergency stop situation. Not what you expect or pay for for a decent branded product and Mintex should have done a recall / notice.
