Its not ideal to do in the winter because drying times will be longer

It takes about 2 hours for touch dry and 12-24 hours to cure.

If outside you can get bits stuck in the paint in the first 2 hours :(

Plus the cold temps can cause the paint to bloom.

Ideally get one of them little portable gazebo type garages and put a heater in too to make yourself a little booth, that will do the trick, or borrow a garage? :D

In fact you could get a little gazebo and then pipe your exhaust outside, make a good seal around your exhaust pipe though!

Then you can run the car with the heaters on, will warm the place up in no time and provide simple fume extraction :)

Great ideas I have a warehouse I can do it in just need to heat it?. Did anyone polish after painting and roughly how long does it take

I did mine in about 4 hours. As said above it's the stripping down, taping off and rubbing down tht takes the time. I did mine outside. It's a little rough but it only gets scratched off road. Could do with rubbing down and going over but can't be arsed just yet.

Quick one whilst people are on

my archs were painted gloss black n sanded it off anyone know how to make the plastic shiny again do i need to go for a finer grade ive been using 400grit

Did mine outside, bit annoying when bugs land on it and cant fly away again but i wasnt after a show winning finish so wasnt that bothered :D

If you're polishing to gloss you need to sand to at least 1200 first before you start compounding.

Right when you say stripping off! You take all lights out and everything? Im thinking of actually painting it in the simular colour to whats already on there. Is there a way i can find out WHAT colour mine is?

Should be a colour code on VIN plate.

I took out the lights, popped the rear seat glass out as mine is a 3dr and took the door handles off and window strips.
and whats this talk of polishing????? I just painted mine and thats that lol

So did you guys take the windows etc out or just mask it off
Mines already the metallic green so it probably a little more forgiving if I miss tiny bits, but its suffered from the same fading as the OP, so its a distinct possibility

Did my old T25 VW and it worked a treat (got that colour matched to the original paint by a place nr Southampton)

Windscreen, back window and rear sides/alpines i just masked up the rubbers :)

If you want a fancy farty job then yea take the windows out but I just masked around the rubbers coz the state mine wer in they wouldn't Wana go back in so that would mean new rubbers. Apart from my alpines, I've blanked them so painted straight over.
