wondered why it was a bit sluggish up hills

just took my maf sensor out

surprising how many cans u collect , lol

think the carb cleaner might be the best , what do u think to clean this plse

Carb cleaner is suitable

tks, always prefer the ask before hand

will put my diagnostic iid on the car tomorrow ,

it was strange as on the way down to the shop on the motorway it was fine

then on the way back , up a hill i just wouldn't pull

think i will also order an egr blank kit , doesn't need any flash on the ecu as it's a 2005

looks fun doing the blank, but will just take my time , might need some steps, lol

dread to think how blocked it is, considering this is what the maf looks like

Look for an egr valve on each manifold, i.e. Two

thks

think i've sussed it, ref the pipes etc ,

reading up also need to take out the butterfly valves ,

plus just cleaned the maf, will also see how much crap is down the maf hole , in case that's blocked as well

will just stick a hoover down there so it doesn't go in the engine and cleans it out, until the egr set turns up

think it's going to be one messy job but a satisfying ones

the pipes at the engine end look rather on the tight side, but will just take my time and plenty of tea breaks

that is something I clean regular. With egrs it blocks regularly.
What ever you do don't insert anything inside it as it has a delicate membrane, just squirrel it with degreaser.
It's a MAP sensor btw, it measures the air pressure on the inlet manifold after the turbo, the MAF is the large round tube from the airbox to the turbo with a plug on the side and measures the air flow.

oops , sorry , changed the title as well, thks for that

see it doesn't take much to get confused, lol

i used the thin tube on the cleaner to blast any junk out of the hole , just resting it on the edge

as soon as my new egr blank kits arrives will fit that , looks fun and the bolts worry me a bit, in case they snap

wondering if its better to remove the bolts with the engine hot

will reinstall the map sensor tomorrow then set up my iid diagnostic to see what faults etc there are

have an airbag light on , so will start with the dtcs

thks again

will soak them with wd40 a day before i'm planned , but won't start the engine due to it being flammable
I wouldn't advise using WD40 unless it's their releasing oil. The ordinary stuff is as the WD infers a Water Dispersant. You'd be better off using something like PlusGas releasing oil, there are other makes too.
The only oil in standard WD40 is paraffin.

thks brian , will buy a can in the week :D

always like to plan ahead and make sure i have everything to plan

found this as well , in how to fit the egr blanks

went for the more expensive option ,

did also see a lot of chat about the mot and egr bypasses

didn't have any problem when i done my hippo

The EGR Blanking kits will probably include some new S/S bolts for the blanking plates. Just give them a bit of a smear with Copper Ease before you re-assemble the parts, it's a high temperature anti-seize compound. So if you've got to get them out sometime in the future ....

no it doesn't , might not hurt though in ordering some new bolts in advance , got some copper slip

agree is always a good practice when putting bolts etc back , is a saviour if u need to take them back out,

this is what's in the kit, not much , but is suppose to be a good quality one, the cheaper ones are suppose to suffer from weld failure

will try and find some bolts online

thks again

Another thing I did when I fitted my EGR removal kit, OK it was just one on a Td5, but I used some exhaust assembly compound on the mating faces of the blanking plate to the pipe end flange. You know the stuff, a white paste which sets like ceramic under the heat of the exhaust. Failing that you could also use a smear of Gun Gum instead, especially in the absence of gaskets.

sounds good idea , noticed in the instructions they said about high temp silicone but i think what u said is a better idea, cheaper to, lol

just done a quick scan , it then realised like an idiot i hadn't put the map sensor back yet , doh

will refit tomorrow then rescan and see what we get , as

well after putting the map sensor back in a browsed through the avg mpg

it used to show 17mpg

now this, am i right in saying that as the map was blocked it couldn't read the sensor correctly so simply threw out the display

it did go up to 26mpg

am chuffed with that , i stuck my foot down up a steep hill and christ o mighty the thing pulled like a train , wry impressive for such a large and heavy motor

That's more like the MPG Gary;)

Re EGR blanking. I've never had a problem with undoing the manifold bolts. They are patch bolts, but normally come out easy enough. You'll need a long wobble extension with an 8mm hex socket. Oh and don't drop the bolts, or the new blanking plates, or you'll never find them again ;)
I don't like to remove the butterfly plate, just in case a turbo seal fails. The butterfly is the only thing stopping the engine suffering runaway.

Is the EGR blanking cousing any problems in the ECM or any other system when applied on a TDV6 from 2007
????
I thought it would be possible to do this after MY 2007...
Any answers or other possibility's welcom... or send me a pm
