Hi folks,
Just after refitting the inlet manifold and one of the bronze studs came loose, won’t tighten to recommended 10 Nm (or any torque!). Removed inlet manifold cover again and noticed the stud stuck to bolt.

I cleaned out the nut socket in engine block and nut, applied unibond metal epoxy last night, tried tightening up bolt today and runs through again.

Is there a fix or does it matter? Also noticed the torx bolt to cam sensor came loose, won’t tighten at all, seems the threads are all but gone in engine block…any fix?

Seems bolts are not behaving themselves on my 100k 2004 td4 lol

It sounds like the brass collet thread as worn, and also the thread into the block as a stripped thread ? the best way to check is remove the manifold again, this time try a bolt into the block/collect and see if the collect is turning or the bolts turning and will just not tighten up, if the later then it needs the thread sorting out or the collect removed for a good one.

Which ever is the culprit

Yeah it’s actually the brass Collect, it came out of the engine housing, so are you saying a new Collect will actually work if inserted (by hammer?) as it’s walls are rough enough to bite into the housing and wedge tight so to speak?

As above first try with a bolt to see if it is spinning in the thread, or it's the brass collet spinning the the cam cover, if it is then a new one may not hold either as the plastic as worn, therefore you may have to either fill it up with epoxy resin and then set the new collet or the old one in if the thread is ok and wait until it sets, to be honest as long as you can get it to bite a little i doubt it will make any difference when the rest of the bolts are tighten down.
