Hi guys gutted today. My 90 just failed its mot due to rear cross member. im after the cheapest one around so i can get it on the road asap. after spending nearly 1500 on new defender 200tdi engine, paint, lights, wing mirrors, rear door, nuts bolts, tyres and a million other things i am starting to run out of money and loosing patience!! so if anyone could point me in the right direction i would be grateful!

If you can get it welded in place there is a guy called Pressbrake (I think). Everyone seems to rave about his work. Not used him myself but seems a good and cheap choice

they guy who m.o.t ed it was a pain in the arse!! i didnt think it was that bad and even possibly a pass. but he told me it cant be welded and if i got someone to weld it he will fail it again!! regardless so i have 10 days to get a new one and fit it.

Some piccys might be an idea, to give peeps a bit more to go on;);););), my crossmember is almost more patches than crossmember, and it passed an M.O.T. no bother:cool::cool::cool:

see if this works

i'd go whacking it with a hammer and attacking it with a grinder and brush.

got to say, it doesn't look so bad that it can't be welded up imo. plenty more experienced on here than me though

he said even the best welder will never weld that  the only way he said it will ever pass is if i replace the whole thing!

It's easier to do with the bumper and stuff all off, but you could make a nice panel up for that - never say never - some really nice chassis patches were fitted to our old series 3 back in the day ...
