it also failed on a fuel leek. i only got it back today as i just had my defender 200 tdi fitted guess he didnt do up something tight enough. but it was just those two things... the 10 day race is on!!!

tyres are only 235 85 16s the pic with the number plate in was old. its a nightmare because i need to take it back to him otherwise i have to go through the mot all again with another garage and down here on the island they can get a lot more picky than that!

weld it up, take it back. if he fails it, get vosa involved and sod the clown off next time.

The thing is my friend works at the garage and he came to my house and said he would pass it as he is a tester. He said he would also be doing the mot but at the last min the tester got changed. And it so happened to be the owner that ended up testing it!! Managed to source a rear cross member for 150.00 it has the extended arms on it , I hope to fit it myself hoping I can get it done with in 10 days!!

Should be fine if the rust is cut out and new metal welded on I was patching patches which were welded to patches for this years mot and it was fine... b*****d failed me on wheel bearing and a diesel leak though

That looks pretty easy to patch up, I would repair it and take to another Mot station for the retest. You can not fail the repair if it is welded correctly. If the guy has got a bee in his bonnet he can be arsy about the quality of the repair then you would need to ask for an appeals form (I think its a VT17) he may then see the light and pass it but to save you the stress I would take it somewhere else :)
