Are they constantly updating it? It's a bit crap that it covers more on the Bosch than the GEMS. Although from the website I see it does support GEMS reprogramming....that the Nanocom does not.

What readings are you missing on GEMS?
On Gems you dont get anything on the injectors to be honest Eric is bringing his bosch over next weekend so we can do a comparison hopefully will get some screen shots to post have to say so far its good on hvac and eas and becm but need to do a bit more anyone in the area welcome to use
The code on the GEMS is set. When the BECM is first connected up (at the factory) you put it learn mode and cycle the ignition, this sets the GEMS code in the BECM.
When it looses sync, you put the BECM back in learn mode and it relearns the GEMS code and away you go again....
I've read that if you reprogram the GEMS code to FFFF and the make your BECM learn this code, the sync issue is cured. This is because when the BECM forgets it's code it defaults to FFFF.
I'd like to try it, but you need Testbook (or perhaps Lynx) to program the GEMS ECU.

The times my BECM has gone out of synch it certainly wasn't at FFFF. It was a few digits off the code on the EMS.
And no, I haven't fixed my HEVAC. I managed to get my fingers through the radio hole and check the connectors at the back but it made chuff all difference so I'm going to have to take the whole lot apart.

According to an article on RR.net, the BECM only forgets binary zeros, or at least, if it can't read the proper digit for whatever reason it defaults that bit to a binary one.
Therefore, making the code FFFF means it's all binary ones and if it does have trouble reading to proper code it'll default to a binary one so it should't ever loose sync. LR did an official update, but it was only ever offered to USA customers, so perhaps it doesn't work on our UK cars, however I'd like to try it!
I believe all US cars have a generic 1515 as the EKA code.
Is the EKA the same as the BECM to Engine ECU immobilisation code? I didn't think it was.
