Hi, what longer dampers can I reasonably buy for my pick-up? the existing ones (as bought with vehicle) are 440 long and the springs when unloaded are 445 mm centre of bolt to mounting. so to get them on a fat bloke has to jump on the back to compress the spring to 440.
the springs are standard multi-leaf and the shackles are at 45 degrees .
It is undrivable as the back skips and bounces all over the place.
ideas???

Thanks, mine has the eye fitting at both ends- But the SWB rear pro-comp extended should fit- do you think there is any reason not to use SWB on LWB?

As long as the damper is secure, and has some rebound travel, then, I think you'll notice a considerable improvement in ride quality. There isn't need for much rebound travel from the static unladen position, because you need most of the travel to allow for loading the vehicle up and then some extra bump travel beyond that. Phrased another way, it would be a waste of damper travel to set the damper up mid-travel when the vehicle is unladen. The situation is similar, but less extereme, when dealing with ordinary cars where the difference between unladen and laden is not as severe.

many thanks all- most interesting- I will sort it out soon, as soon as I have bled the brakes-again...
