I found https://www.stage1v8.org.uk and some of the answers over there.
On further inspection the PAS does appear to be the ZF system that the MOD used.
The internals of the steering relay are the same as the regular S2/3 item with a different body. I've ordered the bits to rebuild it.

Any thoughts on the shocks?
Thanks,

That rear axle strap looks like the stadard length one fitted to the mil chassis. Mine was the same. Get some Balata belt off e-bay and make some longer ones. We shhould be able to measure the length for you or fit it up to leave 1 to 1 1/2" clearing under the axle.

The general feeling is that parabolics should be run with gas filled shocks because the springs move more and can result in standard dampers overheating and losing performance.

Thanks guys. My understanding is that the oil shocks move too slowly (over damped) for the parabolic spring to provide the additional movement - basically stops it working, hence the gas shocks.
I'm trying to get a handle on what's currently on the truck.
Looking at this: https://www.paddockspares.com/parts...eries-2-and-3/suspension/shock-absorbers.html it looks like there are 2 options for gas shocks, either Monroe or ES3000. Being black they could be Monroe's but there is nothing identifying them as such (sticker could have fallen off). I have a receipt for front parabolic springs but no mention of dampers. My guess is they are oil shocks. I'll remove one and see if I can identify it.
Any thoughts on Monroe vs ES3000? Monroe's would cost £132.00 vs £180.00 for the ES3000.
