Love the banter, much appreciated, keep it coming please. I don't pick the car up until Saturday but I already know the LPG system is old (make to be found out) and it's running like a pig on petrol, (sorry 'pez') if I kept the LPG it would need sorting and tank(s) 'hidden' as I've already allocated the boot space, anyone know someone near Uttoxeter who plays with these things and doesn't charge the earth please?

If it runs like shít on petrol but not Gas then it is an injector issue from either not being used or there is shít in the system - Injector seals are also a consideration..

I forget what car you're buying, if it is GEMS replace the fuel filter and run a good dose of redex through it for a tank to clear it out..

If THOR do the above but forget the filter as the THOR doesn't have one!!

Multipoint LPG systems slave off the petrol injection, so if it is on the píss on the petrol side chances are it will be on LPG too..
Single point, is its own system so you can forget that..

My trusted car mechanic recently changed the LPG fill pipe. I was quite surprised that it was a straightforward compression fitting at both ends. It may well be the case that changing over from current to "underslung" tanks will also be a straightforward, mechanical task. Good luck.

In the main it's a straightforward plumbing & wiring job.
Setting it all up can be the fun bit.
Yup!
On the other hand, it may just run perfectly! Only one way to find out...TRY IT when you get your hands on it!

Thanks again, I intend having a play when I get my filthy little mitts on it, is this where having fun sounds more like WTF?

Wouldn't want to pre-empt that question and potentially burst ya bubble! Be sure to let us know how your "filthy little mitts" get on!

Te He! Got it!! Must have been the mutts nuts when new, heated memory seats, heated front screen, speakers on the A pillars, air con, cruise control and even the 'Range Rover' badges back and front are metal/plastic not transfers as is the 'Vogue' on the back (not marked SE!?) my original (RKY 202R, owned in the 1990's) were metal but my old H reg were transfers as was my P38. Don't know what the chap did but it fired up on petrol fine (vacuum pipe on the distributor has snapped off but new section ordered). The LPG system is 'IMPCO' and he says just packed up (?). I also now find I have what he says are 'the three graces' (sorry for my ignorance on this matter, it's a habit!) SRS light, ABS light and air suspension light (not surprised by the latter, it's been removed!). Biggest surprise was that the gearbox dipstick wasn't even moist, lord knows what wonders that going to show in the near future. Multitude of other problems but that's in the fullness of time, this is a long term project. And I'm still smiling!!!!

Remove the front grill and check the Autobox cooler this is a known to rot through and **** oil out.

Looks like a bog brush in front of the rad.

Top it off before driving it..

LOL, unaffordable maybe but my 32 year old Classic puts a smile on my face every time I drive it & the annual PETROL bill is less than some people spend on fags :D
A chap i know spends £9,000 a year on fags..

makes my v8 seem cheap.

People spend £20k or more for a car they drive for 3 years, although more likely now to lease at £300 a month. For the price I buy cars all the repairs and fuel and insurance is still massively under that, although fuel is my biggest expense by far.

Hi, the previous owner had fitted a new cooler (grill was still off, see pici) and so there it was all black and shiny, what he didn't mention was that he'd not put any ATF after he'd done it (he hadn't driven it, luckily!), maybe it was an oversight? Hmmmmmm……………………… IMG_0780.JPG this is going to be an interesting challenge LOL
