Depends what engine the LPG is fitted to. As we're talking about Land Rovers, I assume you're talking about a V8.
On a V8, MPG will range from about 14-18mpg on LPG.
With a TDi, 27-28 mpg is achievable
With a TD5, 24-26 mpg
A TDCi is much the same as a TDi with regard to mpg
And you won't really want to tow with any of the other diesels, you'll be lacking in power.

I get about 19mpg on the motorway towing with my V8 Auto. You need to do your sums really to make up your mind on V8 or V8LPG or Oil burner. V8 are cheaper than a TD5 to buy, if you can get an LPG fitted V8 for similar money then great. I went std V8 having done my sums it would work out about 5 years before I broke even if I went diesel or fitted LPG to the car. I really only use it for pulling the caravan and for a 2nd car to pop to the shops so wasn't worth the investment...I might not even own it in 5 years
