P38 4.6 gems.is it possible to start somehow on lpg . The car has a broken fuelpump and needs to be replaced for restauration.
It has a prins vsi installed which should run fine.

No technical reason but depends on the system. some will let you force a cold start by flipping the switch a few times.. or whatever the 'secret' is for a particular system. Some won't allow it.
Just expect it to crank longer before it starts

Mine you turned the ignition on, then held the LPG button down for a few seconds and then it beeped to show it had manualy switched to LPG only.

Start and let it warm up a bit before driving. I only ever did it once, but it did work. But rough tickover until it had warmed up a bit.

And watch the reducers don't freeze (open) no need to ask me how i know

Can you confirm the lpg system is doing it's job?
You may just need to change the fuel pump and go from there. 🤔

From another site:
With engine on but not started, switch to petrol then immediately switch back to LPG and hold the LPG button down until the lead goes yellow, then the car should start on LPG until next start cycle

Lead? Presumably the flashing around the windscreen to keep the rain out?

You can't start lpg on a cold engine.
On my old RRC it did start but very reluctantly, however, it was not a multi point. The LPG installer I used when I had it fitted in the P38 in 2010 did actually manage to start on LPG (very rough start until warm) but I have no idea how he did it, unfortunately they are not there anymore to ask!

DId you read the manual?

They all usally work the same way. I found this on a forum about the BRC system...

For emergency LPG start up you turn ignition on and then hold the gas button down for 5 seconds until the changeover light starts flashing orange the then crank it. I have read you can do this 5 times until the ECU needs re-setting.

This is exactly the same as my BiGas system. I think they're all the same really just with different stickers on the box. Mine was multipoint, and it worked fine, but I only tried it once. It was very lumpy until it had warmed up.

Not true.
I have been running on LPG from start for over a year now. Admittedly it’s not a multipoint system, and only a defender.
But it has a little red button (acts like a choke). So I would image there is a way to do it on any systems.

I think Dacia do an LPG only model in France? The big problem is pipes etc freezing up on a cold start, maybe they have electric heaters for the critical points. Fork lift trucks start and run on LPG no problem.
