Hi all,

Being a sad old git with time on my hands.

I read that LPG systems (Some) can cause backire when changed from one fuel source to the other. This can cause damage to the MAF etc.

Apparently the back pressure damages the flapper valve spindle and can happen even if it has been fitted with a relief valve. The recommended precaution is to loosen the circlips on the MAF hose to achieve a good grip but loose enough blow off if a backfire occurs.

Any comments?

i havent got the cat flap type afm, so thankfully dont have to worry about it being buggered by backfires! but i found when mine was running sh!te before engine rebuild it backfired while running on gas, not during the switch over!

I'm sure it's the single point systems that are prone to backfiring so if you have multi point injected system then no worries

my p38 with sequential lpg has been running like a bag of sh*t until today due mainly to faulty o rings in the gas injectors and duff ( 6 month old ) magnacor leads , and during all that time it never once blew back or even threatened to do , the old crappy single point that was fitted when i bought it though used to do it for fun !!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Rick, glad th hear you have sorted your leads.

Thank's all for your advice, when I have saved enough I want to get mine converted so I want to find out as much information as possible. Not worth spending money to cause problems.
