Hi I have an issue that my rrs 2005 is saying it’s in low range but is actually in high range sport mode the green mountain light and switch are both flashing! Any ideas what the problem might be ? Thanks Karl

Sounds like the switch mechanism on the shift motor is out of kilter, that or corroded connectors, what happens if you select low range?
 
Nothing happens it just flashes, it was fine when I parked it up last week! Then it flattened the battery which is on permanent trickle charge and after I restarted it this happened! However it’s since held a full charge! I did notice last night my halo led’s where on low as well and can’t turn them off either so I’m thinking there might be a bad earth somewhere now !!

Needs diagnostics
 
Hi

after selecting neutral for 5 x seconds each time , put it in to reverse , then back to neutral , into drive, back to neutral , then see if it will come out of low, plus ensure the gear lever isn’t in sport mode and the HDC switch hasn’t been pressed on

then , battery charger disconnected , with a multimeter test to see what ur battery voltage is plse, then recheck after a few hours

if that doesn’t work try a hard reset , by removing both u battery leads and touching the battery leads together without them coming into contact with the battery posts , leave them connected for 5 x minutes

reconnect battery leads, then recheck if it’s come out of low

What diagnostics are u using , plse let us know how u get on

Before I forget have u got a sunroof and has it been washed with a jet washer plse, thks
Hi mate we used snap on diagnostics! The sunroof has been sealed to stop the water although the floor pan n/s has had water issues in the past ! The battery is reading 12.4 v I haven’t done the reverse neutral thing yet or hard reset, I’ll try this tomorrow ! Thanks
 
12.4v is normally classed as a knackered batterty a good one should be about 12,8v, with 12,4 it will drop to low when you start it and throw allsorts of bits in to fault, charge the battery then leave it an hour and check the voltage and see what you have.

Get the battery capacity checked. If it's around 50% it's pooped.
The mf31-1000 Hankook just fits but needs a strap to hold it down as it doesn't have a heel to be locked in like traditional batteries.
Also the earth point under the front left wheel arch liner could be corroded or burnt.

I own a D3 and there very similar to the RRS , indeed battery should read a min of 12.6 Vdc , there extremely power hungry

ref the leaks n the passenger side the fuse box is on that side behind the lower glove box , along with a large loom that sits in the sill well under the plastic trim, try lifting the carpet up to see if there’s any water trapped ,

another entry point is the main ecu and transfer case module that sits behind the battery , happens when the bonnet seal shrinks and allows a gap for water ingress , it can run down past the module and behind the passenger side fuse box, the alarm system is incorporated into that passenger side fuse box, fingers crossed it’s all dry

unfortunately the external A pillars can also allow water to pass into the cabin , there’s an update that when u remove them to block off the bottom hole with a patch

My main battery is a yuasa 019 and just about fits , standard is an 017 , , have a look to see if there a date, along with its AH and CCA , the snap on should be able to do a battery crank test as indeed a weak battery will throw up all sorts of errors

Plse let us know how u get on , ref trying to get it out of low range but battery needs to be ur first priority

Update my battery is running at 12.8v continuously, I’ve tried the reverse neutral drive option, I’ve done a hard reset both fuse boxes appear to be dry, so I’m going to try searching the bad earth option and see where that leads me as all the other options have drawn blanks at the minute! I’m still stuck in sport mode high range with the low range lights and switch still active !!
