Due to ice , I thought I'd cheat n use the disco 2 td5 to do the morning commute , what a warm and very comfy she be :) and now she's tweaked , she hits the engine limiter in the first 4 gears , next job , Intercooler and re-map , nice one Mr Land Rover

Is it a TD5 or a V8?

My TD5 has never seen north of 3000rpm.

Mine changes up nicely at 4300rpm

Mine's a manual gearbox car, been re-mapped, so I drive her between 1500 and 3000rpm. To be honest I've never felt the need to go any higher.

I just can't imagine why anyone would want to rev a TD5 that high, I find driving on the torque (max torque at 1800rpm in std. trim) to be very satisfying tbh.

its a manual td5 , after doing the egr, clean sensors, up the boost , change the turbo modulator , new air filter . i was wondering how she would go , nd much better she does , it was just to check that the things i had done worked , came home in normal driving mode , smooth and quiet , just gotta find someone in norfolk to re-map the beast ? any ideas ?

Mike at Dynachip Tuning - absolutely first class bloke. He works all over the country offering a mobile re-mapping service.

Get hold of him via his webby.

Thank you , I'll call them next week . One other thing I learnt by reading on here , when I push the ECON button ,so I get ECON displaying on the heater screen , is that is turns off the compressor for the air con , that also removed a slight degrading of power just above 2000 rpm , this site holds lots of lovely info like that for people like me who tend not to read manuals . I'll assume the MPG may improve ? Superb

Mines a manual and rarely goes above 3000rpm - that's 80mph in top gear.

Odd, as I regard myself as a brisk driver who does not wish to hold up other traffic and will overtake where safe opportunity exists rather than sit behind another who wishes to travel a bit slower than me.

Must be all that torque then. Now I understand..................

I'm with biglad. Almost never above 2500/3000.
EXCEPT when my auto failed at 70 and the revs hit 4000 and slowing down.
Waiting on new box from Ashcroft and because of cost intend to keep Disco for a long long time.
Superb and comfortable vehicle to drive.
Although wondering why I got rid of my Disco 1.
