hi could anybody help i have a 300 tdi manual it ticks over nice but when you drive it or apply revs it struggles losses power and sometimes cuts out any ideas
I`ve checked injectors, air suction,egr pipe the oil in pipe seems to be thick tar like substance would a engine flush help i know it needs oil change

inlet manifolds could do with removing and cleaning but engine shouldnt need more than an oil change regulary,check there is good clean fuel supply to pump
 
When did you last change the air filter?
If the search recommended above doesn't include anything about "lift pump" in the results then you could try a search for that in either the Disco or Defender sections
 
i only bought it 3 weeks ago giving oil change in morning due to lot of build up that looks like tar thick black sludge as this is used everyday i`m hoping i haven`t been stung with buying this as always wanted land rover

sludge in the pipe running to inlet ?egr does do this and is better blanked ,you can use a piece of thin tin to go between egr valve and manifold to block it to stop it happening in the future
 
i noticed alot of people have blanked the egr off but won`t it cause other problems and how do i test the lift pump i`ve emptied the fuel filter and it filled up and ran well on tick over when first starting i get few revs where engine is fine then it seems like it`s limited won`t go above 2000 rpm

If the filter is blocked emptying it will not help, you need to change it.

Blanking the egr will not cause problems.
 
thank you to you all i carried out all the checks changed the oil and filter plus the fuel filter cleaned the inlet manifold the egr and air filter plus pipes to find that after all this it still had no power after checking the fuel pipes i was stuck i was sure that i wasn`t going to get it working then someone told me about the is it sediment part so cleaned that and now she runs smoother and picks up better when you put foot down so just about full serviced the engine to find that it was that part stopping me so again thank you i now know my way round the engine after two days playing lol.
