Whats the best way to go about it?

I got told I need:

+2 inch springs all round, heavy duty on the front and soft/medium on the rear
+5 Terrafirma long travel shocks all round
3 degree castor correction arms
Double cranked trailing arms
Heavy duty steering bars
Challenge rear cones
Heavy duty turret rings
Front cones
Front retainers
Heavy duty turrets
Full polybush kit
Extended brake lines

This true?

Steven.

Who the fook told yu ya need all that ****??

If yu wanna lift a disco just get a set of 2" spacers to go under the springs and fit bigger wheels.

In only new to 4X4ing i wana do it all properly like what will I need to lift it up?

I all ready have some blocks.

I also have some +2" front and +3" back springs too like.

Steven.

yu say yu want to do it properly.....#what do yu mean by "it"?

do yu want to go green laning, pay&play sites, challenge cup?

depending wot yu want to do, depends on what yu need to do.

Hang on a minute, Before you rush out and waste all your money buying stuff you don't need..

Why do you want to lift ya disco??

What sort of offroading are you intending to do? Green laning, Pay & Play, Competition use.??

Do you know a few people with lifted vehicles?

Have you spoken to them and asked what they've done.

My suggestion is that you have a good think about what you need from you're disco.

I want to lift it because I got some 32" tyres to go on and have been told that they will catch my arches.

see #6 ;) - ffs keep up Pikey ;).

If I just put the 3" 0n the front and the 2" on the back will that be fine because I have a winch and bumper for the front?

Ill start again.

I am new to 4X4 so I don’t really know what I need to do but I’m looking to go off roading and what to make shore my disco is up to it.

I have all ready got:

light bar and lights
southdown snorkel
winch bumper
sumpguard plate
Wading Kit (AXLES,GEARBOX,TRANSFER BOX)
2" suspension lift blocks
4 wheels & tyres
+2" and +3" springs

That’s what I thought are the basics am I right?

a standard disco is already very good at what it's designed for...offroading...!!!

you can fit 235/70/16 (29" diameter) on a standard disco without the tyres fouling on the bodywork. By fitting 2" lift, you may now fit either 235/85/16 or 265/75/16 (32" diameter) with some bodywork trimming. ----- So effectively, you gain 1.5" of lift under axle, with the bigger tyres.

+5" long travel shocks is cool tho by the sound of it, which will give you improved articulation. BUT, how often will you need that articulation? And with the improved articulation, you'll need extended brake hoses, dislocation cones, cranked arms etc etc......

You will need to ask yourself the question on why you need them. Would that extra bit (and I do mean a bit...not a lot) of extra articulation is worth spending 1,500 pounds on (or more)? And due to the change in the suspension geometry, a few components will start to fail prematurely, such as UJ, bushes etc etc. Are you able to repair them yourself?

If you are indeed planing to do green laning, then all these 'extra' bits don't really matter, as the standard disco is more than capable for it. And frankly, if the standard disco couldn't make any of those lanes....most probably the lane should not have been driven at all.

What Redhand/pikey stated is correct.....put on the 2" spring block and see how it goes, before shelling out for unnecessary accesories..

Trewey........where was your thread showing all the repair work required after a suspension lift....can't seem to find it...!!!

Stuff like that Im looking to do.

The fela I got the wheels and tyres told me to lift the disco.

Plus it seems bouncy on the standard springs.
