My new Crossmember has not got this rail on it, could this one be cut off and welded back on to the new one, ?? think only one end will need to be cut.,
That's if I ever get round to getting it done.:)
Yes, that will cut off and weld back on. But, you'll need to know the height it needs to be set at to support the floor. Have you tried searching LZ for some 110 rebuild threads? It's small, but crucial details like that one that are extremely important to get a quality build. I've only rebuilt a 90 and so there are some important differences that I am unaware of. You'll need someone who is intimate with the 110, or find old rebuild threads.

You need a jig to get everything right.

I thought that to about the a frame brackets , [ now I know what they are called ] :)when I looked at photos before it arrived, but after looking at them now they don't look that bad will give them a brush and clean to see how they turn out.
Can they be replaced and welded on??
bolted on they are forged steel, they rarely rot cross member they bolt to can

OK Gonna get my head round making a Jig.
Really the first thing I have to do is build onto my shed as Its crammed full of stuff at the moment, cant move. Its 16 foot by 12 gonna extend out so it will be 16 by 20. then I can get some benches knocked up and be able to move around the rolling chassis.
I think the only things missing are the rear windows, not sure what their called, the ones above the rear tub that bend round to where the back door goes. but don't suppose they will be hard to get, when I need them.

What does that look like, nobber?

However you want to build it, it needs to be stiff, box section? And it needs to mount to the chassis with no movement, so when you cut the old cross member off you can install the new one in exactly the same place according to the jig, thats how I would do this.

I'm with you, now. Just me being slow, thought you meant for all the other bits like front outriggers :oops:

Fronts outriggers will be a pain, measurments will have to be taken on another 110 to get them right.

I can still see marks where original ones were. the new ones line up perfectly with marks so hopefully should not be to far out,

You might get away with it then, but it would have to be spot on, I would still get some measurements, 5 mm towards the front too much will mean grinding some off the cross member mounting point. Too far back shouldn't be too much of an issue, or is it the other way around? Either way, spot on would be your ideal.

Will definitely measure too from different chassis. If all goes well with welding gonna have a look at Galvanising.

Given all the work you'll be doing rebuilding the Landy, you'll regret not getting the chassis galvanised if you don't.
I know Mate, gonna get some quotes , there's a shot blasting place near me will get a quote for that first, don't think they will charge to much.

Well how's things going have you got out done yet.[/QUOTE
Nothing at all yet Mate. Its in my shed safe and dry but I miscalculated on room with all the rest of parts, everything is crammed in, cant move, without stepping over things.
Been on with extending the shed last couple of weeks but been hampered with spare time and weather, just about done now , concrete not setting properly with cold weather.
Should be finished this weekend then can get whole thing positioned and work benches built so I have plenty room to work round it.
Found the previous owner that originally started it, and got some info off him. He bought as original engine had blown, he got the engine that's in now from disco says it runs perfect with 120000 miles on.Gearbox was fully rebuilt with new clutch just before engine blew, so might just leave it in although I have brand new clutch here, bulkhead is off TDI he checked all wiring and is working fine. inspected diffs and both OK, put brand new discs on front axle and I have brand new callipers to fit.
If I need anymore info along the way he is going to help me.

So after all that I might get a start on the next week or two.

Awesome, that all sounds very positive and adds to the thought that you got a great deal there. 12,000miles on a donor out of Disco sounds a bit suspicious?

Ha, ha. Gonna say, if it was right I was going to get you to choose some lottery numbers for me. :D
Will see how much my luck lasts, Think once I get past this Rear Crossmember problem , will bound to hit a few more snags along the way.
