I've already bragged about this on the Defender area but thought I'd better gloat in the appropriate place.
A farmer I've known for years gave me this series 1 on the provision that I do it up and keep it forever, which I will. It still runs as it should but needs rebuilding. He used it to Potter about his woods and has had it from new. I'm a defender kind of guy so new territory for me venturing into the world of Series.
Not sure where to start any advice gratefully received!

Considering you have no outlay on the vehicle, one would imagine you are in the realms of a nut and job rebuild and have it so it's going to see another 50 years

Im lucky where I live there's 2 amazing Landy specialists that I know well. A lot of the work will be done by them but I reckon I can strip it.

thats a result:)

Fancy doing it Mate? I need ow you hate to drag yourself away from 300s though.
looks ok , has it still got the original engine ?parts are a bit dearer and harder to find but most is possible, whats your idea ,to refurb all the running gear chassis first

What a gift. It looks really original. If it's still got it's original engine and gearbox it's a restoration job. Hope you enjoy the project. Keep us posted.

Nice one.
Personally I hope u give it a sympathetic renovation doing just enough to get it useable and safe.
Be a shame to lose an honest S1 by turning it into yet another one of those god awful 'better than new' showpieces devoid all its patina and history.

Its no good mate. looking at the photos its well beyond any sort of restoration work. ill pop over and take it off your hands. Have the paper work ready.

o_O

I am with blackstrat, keep as original as possible dings and all. Even the paint looks pretty good for its years.

Rebuild the running gear and engine, box etc and the electrics and so on but keep the body work etc as is - the patina is nice

I would just keep it going and drive it as once you start the rebuild you are committed to spending a fortune, I have seen so many rebuilds started and never finished

Looks lovely ,its up to you what you want to spend but if it runs why not get an mot on it and then see what she needs as far as engine and box rebuild

I agree with the body work comments just wash her and wipe with an oily rag
