finished work unlocked car drove home re-locked last night went to go out today and nothing wont unlock with either key fob flashing red when pressed
unlocked with key alarm goes off any ideas going at it tomorrow morning:confused:

Discovery 2 td5 2000 plate been fine until now

rained last night last of the snow melted:rolleyes:

The same thing happened to me< parked came back 5 min later no response from key etc, phoned RAC 90min wait for them to get to me, meanwhile called local dealer, after a few questions he asked if i was near a phone/radio mast as this could interfere with the key signal, if I could push the car ten feet or so it might help, the car was boxed in so could do nothing. Thought I would wait for RAC, 20min later got bored with that tried the key again and it worked> the RAC guy came told him the story, he agreed with dealer but also said it was an itermitant thing, If the signal from thwe mast was strong at that time it would interfere with the key. All has been fine ever since then.Hope this helps.

Cheers all info is appricated, just tryed again still nothing lucky for me happened outside the house so hope it opens in the morning
thanks again for the info:crazy_driver:

HI, I have just queried this as well as its happened to me a few hours ago, I was outside my sisters house and she does have a telephone mast near her to. When I got it home (towed) the bloody thing was fine. I as wondering if it was possible that perhaps water leaking through sunroof had got into something. Hoping it will decide to work again tomorrow. Let us know howit goes and I will keep you updated with mine!!!

If the sunroof is leaking then condensation will form on the inside of the roof and can interfere with the receiver thats located above the head lining to the back of the rear sunroof.

Happened to me once. Never worked out why but it was OK after a few hours and has worked fine since. One thing I did was press the unlock button rapidly ten times (because this resynchronises the key on some systems). I've no idea if that's what cured it, but it worked shortly after.
Don't think there were any masts close by - pub car park in Derbyshire village.

Mine sometimes plays up also.
Unlock door manually, dont open door, then lock.
Then try fob on key to open up.
Might work for you, it do's for me.

Hey, mine is workng fine now (fingers crossed) re-sync the key fob as described by the wonderful Ratty on my comments. Looks like its sorted the problem!!! THANKS ALL FOR THE INFO!!! :):):)

this has happened to me recently as well, 1st thing to do is get your EKA code (emergency key access) this should be with your manual if not , take your log book to your dealer . This will get you going if you are stuck. It is a P.I.T.A. as you have to turn the key so many times left and right and then wait 5 mins before you can get in , but , once you are in as long as you only use the key to lock and unlock then it will get you in and out and mobile.
I took the headlining out of mine and the condensation was unbelievable I dried everything out around the receiver and it has been ok so far ..

given everything a go unlocked locked pressing unlock 10 times on fob in the end e.k.a code got me in and got me going took it for a spin got out,
locked door with key opened door and alarm goes off seems to revert to full lock with internal senors activated??
re-enter e.k.a. code and the immobiliser ingaged key in ignition but no start alarm off.

locked again eka code worked and off we go this has to be done every time to get going

key fobs still not working only thing i noticed when eka code entered waited 5 mins manual says it will go out but instead it clicks and l.e.d flashes like crazy still works

does anyone know if there is a fuse for this or would disconnecting the battery work or will it need re-programming with the fobs at land rover

Not sure if this will work on yours but does on the disco 1 as mine stopped workin the other day disconnet the battery make sure doors are unlocked give a a couple of mins to reset before you reconnect the battery the lock an unlock on the key the hopefully will work i had to change battery in fob to get that workin even tho it was lighting up when pressed
hth

Changed my fob key batterys and nothing
so disconnected the battery
(green light so its charged)
hope this will reset something reconnecting it in the morning as for now got my bike out to go to work up side is am getting healthy! downside its cold and wet out there.

disconnected batt e.a.k, works right but alarm resets after relocked so when door is opened with key alarm goes off and imobliser wont disarm ????? stumped

hi guys

Im having the same kind of problem your having.

Ive only had mine a few weeks but the moment I bought mine (ebay) I drove it home, filled it up, locked it. Went back to it, it wouldnt open from the keyfob... no problem, I'll use the key! Oh wait alarm going off!

Immobiliser had kicked in!

Quick phone call to the AA and whilst waiting, i pop over to the petrol station and pick up a new battery for the fob, tried the unlock a few times and it worked! AA bloke wasnt to impressed...

Few weeks pass and I lock it again, return to the vehicle after a few hours shopping and it wont open, NOT THIS AGAIN!! Long story short, I have to be put on back of a flat bed to get her home! :(.

I had take it to my local main dealer with two fobs I had purchased on eBay, They hooked it up and tried to programme them... they couldnt do it! He said he will get a brand new fob and try and programme the key, nope - truck didnt want to know! He claims he has never had this problem before. He also said the two key fobs i had got from ebay wasnt even registering on their test meter which I thought was odd!

Now the previous owner has found the spare key and fob, it arrives today and that didnt work. I changed battery and pressed the unlock a few times, nothing.

Basically, im stuck aswell! My other fob works fine about 80% of the time. Oh and ive only just got my EKA code so I *Should* be ok if i get stuck but sounds like we have the same problem?

Cheers

James

WORKING WORKING WORKING how chuffed am i.
(Note only my front sunroof had a small drip when it rained heavy)
placed a heater in the car elec blower aimed at the rear sunroof (after reading post about sensor being there)
and the better half's hairdryer and used that to heat up the car pointing hairdryer at everywere inc front sunroof
and had also ordered some neoprine glue (used for sticking wetsuits together black and stays flexable) for the sunroof to seal outer edge of it hard plastic to painted roof
did this yesterday had the battery off for a few hours left it for the day

next day (another rainy night) returned to car pointed key nothing joy so held finger on unlock for about 30 secs flashes intermitantly while walking around tryed unlock pressed 30s then lock for
30s on this attempt the central locking clicked once HOPE so tryed unlock after 1min or so of trying left it unlocked out with the heaters again just kept trying unlock with both keys working did not want to superlock it writing this with heater running in car but now unlocks and locks fine
So can only assume its condansation tripped out the key fobs i have noticed when i lock the car with the key and unlock it the alarm sounds wondering did it work properly in the first place as i always use the fobs can disarm it with the key fob and remember at christmas leaving a heater in the car at my dads overnight and the key worked fine then
HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS HELPS ANYONE OR JUST WASTED YOUR TIME BUT THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THIS WITH YOU ALL JUST IN CASE

WOULD AT THIS POINT LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE FOR YOUR INPUT AND TAKING THE TIME TO REPLY MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL.

it probably is condensation , when I removed the headlining I had a whole eco system on the roof, it was soaking. I have left it off for about 10 days now and it is dry now and surprise surprise I have not had a problem with the fob since the lining has been out.
That is the good news , I still ,however, have to fix the leaking sunroof.

ps when I used the eka code my alarm never went off as long as I used the key to lock and unlock the car. I believe that this is dealer programmable

I dont have a sun roof lol :(

With the spider thing, If i put the bypass thing on it, will it remove the immobiliser from the car so I wont need the fobs anymore?

if it plays up again, aswell as drying out the RF receiver, inspect the fuse box under the steering for water & get the car plugged in- if the BCU reprogramme key code menu cant be accessed it has water damage. Had same prob, BCU sorted it...

Foss,
I had taken my Disco 300tdi to the main dealers and they said the vehicle just didnt want to programme the new key fobs. Do you think that it could be related to the BCU ?

Thank you :)
