Yet more newbie advice needed I'm afraid. I finally managed to properly take stock of my new acquisition, 92 3.9 Vogue SE

ABS codes read out as 2-3, 2-6, 2-8, 2-14 (i think) and 5-12. The 5-12 looks like it'll need a new sensor, judging by the dangling wires, and i've got some relays then I'll see what codes come back. After a few days standing the pump runs for just over a minute so I think a new accumulator is in order - does that sound right?

It seems to drive ok forward but I got an odd rattle and feeling of a rear wheel jumping when reversing. Could that be ABS related or is it the VCU?

It doesn't have any cats and was registered in Aug 1992- does that mean I'll need to put some back on before the MOT?

Then there's the rust -see attached. Can anyone recommend a good & cheap welder in the Bracknell/Farnborough area? Is it even going to be worth trying to MOT patch that or do I proceed straight to a whole new sill? I'd prefer quick and cheap for now so I can do it properly at my leisure in warmer time. Next question, rough idea how much those two options might cost?

Did the single wheel jack VCU test today - not much fun at -8C. Looks like that's my problem.

So is a missing front prop shaft an MOT failure?

Any comments from anyone on any of this?

For the cats, Id wait and see how it does on the emmissions test, If it passes emmisions then Id leave it be.
The sill Id replace, doesnt look much good metal there to weld to!
propshafts arent a testable item.

abs is least of your worries..can have the one off mine for scrap value..but that rust!!!

oh..bet it spreads much further than you think......have a good poke around before commiting to repair...may not be worth it...
