My boot is leaking in water? It's really damp in the compartment where the tool box/jack is kept and is sometimes filling up with around 1 inch of water. Then I'll go back to it after a few hours/next day and it'll be just damp again.

There is no water in the actual boot space. Could anyone shed any light on this problem?
 
Its well (pardon the pun) covered in the forums could be one of several things. My first advice to you would be remove the carpet out of the boot and dry boot area throughly. The run a hose on the back door especially around the seal, with the door closed that is! Mine here is still leaking but it takes a while for it to come in either at the top and wind its way down to the corner and then into the boot I cannot discover where its coming in other than what I have described.So thats the boot seal covered! then there is the possibility of it coming in through a gromet in the floor self explanatory how to deal with that . I will cover another point about the damp once you get that one sorted is the condensation on the storage box area its has to do with allegedly the fact that the rear silencer box runs directly beneath the storage area and thats what causes the damp in there. Various alleged solutions including drilling breather holes in the plastic lid ! But not to worry its all part of the glorious ownership of a freelander ! and be comforted in that there is a great many decent lads here only to willing to help solve your problems.
 
Had new rear door and window seals fitted when I bought mine nearly two years ago but the tool box still suffered condensation on the lid, jack rusting and carpet wet. Couple of months ago I drilled a couple of small holes and cut out the carpet and insulation on the bottom of the tool box (watch out for the wiring under the insulation) no longer any condensation and tool box now dry.
 
It's a door seal fault........ I've replaced the damaged door shedder, replaced the rear door seal, the one that wraps around the opening, but to no avail, I still get a small puddle of water in there. I've narrowed it down to the hinge side of the rear door, but where exactly is a mystery. As has been mentioned, it is a common fault, but I don't believe it's one that should be just accepted, specially on a relatively (11 year old) car. My previous car, a Rav4 (17 y.o.) with a similar process of opening the door, didn't have this problem. So I will keep searching........:mad:
 
mine and wife's do not leak but I have a friend and his did so I sat in it while he sprayed water on it, it took about 15 mins to sort it . it was coming from behind the right hand panel, it was the drain from the sun roof ,that was blocked at the end and the down tube just sits in it and is not sealed.
 
I think there are a variety of possible leakage areas. When I first got my V6 it had been sitting unused for several months and so it was showing evidence of leakage into the boot cubby as the lid had condensation on it. Once I'd sorted the engine and started using the car daily it all dried up :)
I've tried to spray water over everywhere I can think of to find a possible leak but to no avail. I'm so confident that it's not leaking into the cubby i'v installed my new sub woofer in there!!

wow, i have researched the problem, checked the places where I've been advised to. had a mechanic look for the problem and still no joy. I can be arsed, otherwise I wouldn't have tried to solve the problem. You blatantly could be arsed, as you posted a snotty reply that was not needed, I was merely trying to help people. stop playing the big man behind your keyboard.

**UPDATE**
I don't know how it's stopped, but I'm putting it down to the new seal I fitted last year, that has maybe bedded in. It's been dry now for months, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the problem has been corrected.......... ;)

You've had some really good replies to this.

It has been done by lots of members on here many times, if you still can't find a solution follow Howardos advice.

A search can yeild the the answer to which you seek.
