hello there,i have a 110 and i've just noticed the fuel pump is leaking.on further investigation its coming from the blue washer thing with a wire connected to it,on the top.i think it could be the solenoid?can anyone advise me about it?do i need a new fuel pump or is it just a case of changing the washer?thankyou.

I think you mean from the injector pump ? In which case its probably the fuel cut off solenoid , if its leaking from under the washer whre the wire is connected you will need a new solenoid , if you mean its leaking from under the sealing washer between the pump and the hex head of the solenoid , then it might just need a tweak with a spanner HTSH.
fitted the new one took ten minutes,felt like spanner god until i switched the engine off and now it wont stop unless i pull the wire out the top!!start again tomorrow.bloody landrover only had it 2 months,i spend more time under it than in it.
That is NOT the fault of the new stopper solenoid, because the engine DOES stop when power is taken off the solenoid.
You have a LECCY problem .... it isn't turning off the leccy to the solenoid when you turn off the key.
Fit a switch in series with it.

i went and got a another new one today,maybe i wont bother fitting it!
if the electric is not cutting off to the switch would that be a short circuit somewhere?i cant see any difference to the wires since i started.

put a wire from the battery to the cut off switch as suggested,with a switch in it screwed to the dashboard.works fine,though i'd like to know what was going on.i put a tester on it,with the ignition off the wire had no charge but still cut the engine when i pulled it out.if i arced across from the top of the soleniod to the body of the fuel pump it cut the engine but not from the soleniod to the chassis???????????

The stopper solenoid needs only ONE wire.
The earth back to battery is through the fuel injection pump and the engine.
To make the car START there must be 12 volts LIVE + applied to the solenoid to LIFT the stopper plunger inside. All the time the engine is running there must be 12 volts live + on that single lead. It doesn't matter where the 12 volt live + comes from, so long as it's LIVE.
The moment you cut the 12 volts (like pull the wire off) the stopper plunger should drop under a spring pressure and shut off the fuel to the injection doodahs, and stop the engine.

yeah,i've disconnected the original wire now so just have the jerry rigged one in.i probobly didnt explain right that i tested the wire with the ignition off while the engine was still running and there was no power going to the solenoid(this was befor fitted the new one).but still the engine ran until i either arced across to the fuel pump or pulled the wire(which had no electricity going thru it)out.why did the plunger stil stay open?
an auto electritian had a poke about and couldn't work it out either.thats when i put the new wire in.

I feel pretty sure you weren't getting a proper earth when you were checking the solenoid, because by all accounts (yours) the solenoid is working just dandy.
LECCY 12+ on solenoid = engine will run
NO LECCY on solenoid = engine will NOT run or if it is ruuning it will stop.
My guess is that your wire MUST have had 12 v Leccy alright.
What sort of biscuits does your dog like best .... Slob was asking ....

from what the auto electric guy said it could have been picking up a very small charge from the alternater wire.to small to show on the volt tester.glad it's fixed(for now)and i can get on with fitting the capstan winch i bought today.
he quite likes cream cakes as it goes,licks them for ages he does.
You'd better keep a close hold on that dog.
