Hi newbie here..

What likely to need looking at on a series 2 if its been layed up for 18 months.. are there any specific seals that are prone to drying

Is the battery under the passenger seat as in the series 3 ?

Was a runner when stuck in storage just no longer required and got left..

it'll be well shagged by now, let me know where it is and i'll be round tomorrow to take it off your hands

snigger....

Check the chassis, the tyres are more than likely to be shot. as for seals its a landy they leak :D

The battery should be under the bonnet as standard but can be fitted under the passenger seat.

As a general rule with any vehicle that has been stood you'll need to do a service, i.e all oils and filters. Brakes will probably be seized on so you could be looking at a strip and clean front and back maybe with new shoes and wheel cylinders, also I'd imagine the old fuel and fuel lines would need draining/replacing and possibly the carbs drained and/or stripped and cleaned. After all that you might be ready to start thinking about starting it, at which point all the other problems will come to light! Good luck.

Thanks guys lol...

be around and take it off me eh.... lmao.. :p

As i said in my newbies thread i do actually have 2 being made available to me...

the specs for them both is in my newbies thread.. one is a 3.5 litre deisel.

Chassis seem quite solid which suprised me.. surface rust as expected but the hammer didn't go through anything so good sign...

I'll get some close up piccies and have a closer inspections..

Whats more expensive to replace ? chassis, body work or engine ?

Are the series 2 capable off roaders as thats what i want it for.. lots of people seem to be more fond of the series 3 stuff.

when yer say "stored"?
sortof implies its bin indoors, in which case id be tempted t chuck some fresh fuel in an a fresh battery an give it a try. If its bin left in a field then yeh! chances are it'll be shagged unless it wer in reeeeely good fettle before hand

see told ya it'd be well shagged

what time can i collect ? :)

lol..

You really are the site bargain hunter aren't ya lmao..... :p

They're parked side by side, in a "sheltered" area, but they are exposed to the elements.. and on concrete standing..

1 tyre defo need replacing but the others are still holding air which is quite impressive.

A good days work will see one of them running i hope..

Ahh come on that's hardly shagged, afternoons work could see it right!

On the other hand it could be so rusty it breaks in two as soon as you move it off your drive so who knows :p

If its free then optomism must prevail...

this is the only "shockingly bad piccy" i could get for now.. it off a mobile and cut from another image for another purpose..
