In what way, compared with a Defender, is a Series motor not true 4WD?
its a good plan .... the one too put back on the road if ya can is the series 2 ... its a proper landrover .. and try not to over do it you'll spoil it ... sometimes the less you do the better ..... good luck ..
cos when you put a defender in difflock then all 4 wheels drive until the limeted slip diff kiks in . then 1 fron and 1 back drive. but on a series 3 you hit the yellow lever and it drives one front and one back.
or at least thats wot i fort

I assume we are talking about Land Rovers as built, not subsequently modified.
What limited slip differentials?
A series motor in 4wd is identical in action to a Defender in diff lock:
both axles locked together, open differential in each axle.
oh well i made my self look a prick then . sorry guys

i suppose logical thing to do it..
1 determine which engine runs.
2 strip and assess the chassis on each truck.
3 Decide which one would make the better off roader (err forum advice would be good about here)
Either restore.. or sell for spares.
we had similar on here before about how they wint 4wd but 2wd, defenders included. just more bollocks put about by folk wot dint know better and believed by those trying to learn. Ah seem to remember it getting around to cars being 1wd and motorbikes being 0wdNot at all you misunderstood something. We all do that Even me!! (Though not very often oviously)
