That is very kind of you to offer. I have no doubt you have tested vigorously but I do not trust easily, don’t take it personal I have issues lol.
My experience of this community is no matter how hard you are on members when it comes down to it they will go out of their way to help you regardless of past differences.

Nice talking to you ,as ever Tony,you'll be glad to hear the rains stopped here.could hardly hear you for it hitting the conservatory roof earlier. Very enlightening 're.the can you can't you discussion. If only you could remember the members name who you helped out years ago or even find the thank you post he sent,this was before the forum changed so it was years ago, I know you won't say it but the member was up in Chorley visiting relatives he was from down south and you sorted his car for him and he was able to drive home. Which is the reason you know it can be done .hope you don't mind me sharing part of our conversation.
 
OK - so basically it might have happened, 10 yrs ago, but no-one really remembers if or how, or whose car it was. If you can't walk out to a P38 diesel TODAY and do this on a standard nanocom then any further discussion is a big waste of time. There's no way I could reliably remember the sequence I did something on a nanocom that long ago - unless I wrote it down, or photographed it, and I'm a good 30+ years younger.

Let's just leave it - I know what I need to know, and most folks will have made up their minds by now, one way or the other

Just because i dont have, does that mean i dont want to learn? I have looked and learnt from reading many of the P38D threads on here although i dont have;) and will probably never use any of the useful info gained from watching you guys work through the issues but whats wrong with wanting to learn?

So anyway I have taken your advise and read the destructions on the BBS Nanocom and still cant see how it can be done if the Alarm has tripped the BECM into a locked "alarmed state or EKA needed message" May read a couple more times. All i can see is that the EKA can be entered manually with the Nanocom, so that needs to be known first.Before anything else can be changed, so is that a wrong assumption on my part?
The Nanocom is all magic to me (as I dont have) so have no real input for an argument about what can and cant be done.
It is so far along this discussion (and associated threads) and because of all the unnecessary mud flinging going on. with explanations for said argument for, and only "Bollocks you lot are stupid" on the other side. Its sort of turned into a "nothing of use thread" really.

Now if i have got hold of the completely wrong end of the stick then please put me right, I am never to old to learn, as I would hope you are too.

quite as good and experienced at things as I am. Well i would say that is certain what do you think? I can do it if you can't hard cheese.

I already acknowledged this zillions of posts ago.
However, in this case, experience counts for nothing if you can't remember how you did it, and it can't be replicated on a std nanocom. But you've merrily beaten people up with this stick for ages - turns out it was a mirage all along

That is how it is done, as said you don't have a clue what you are doing judging by the video that is. Man up and accept that there are people who know more than you do. Listen and learn. You will know by now i do not suffer fools gladly, stop being a fool and all will be fine. One thing i cannot stand is people like you and a few others giving out false information. I will always reserve the right to correct misinformation. You will note that on your video there was no diagnostic mode message on dash. Which there HAS to be.

As much as i agree about false information, there is and hasn't been any basis as to why its wrong.

In my business when people said "just do it" was normally because they didn't like the questions being asked as they didn't know. Now I am not saying this is the case but it certainly seems like a case of. I know something and I have power because you dont know.

So theoretically.
Now if what is being said somebody can take my P38 away with all alarms blazing, break into it at a convenient place plug in their Nanocom and make it theirs?

Now thats a question for the Gurus, but from what i read that is not possible but according to someone it is with a Nanocom? so how do we move forward from here:)

It's either something that can be done with a nanocom, without hacking the nanocom or range rover, in which case the instructions are suitable for an open forum, or its not.

What this forum or BBS instructions/available downloads?

They state the Nancom cant do things and you need to have the special module for the Faultmate MSV and on thier available downloads they state you are not having the destrutions for the expensive bit that does everything you want unless you buy it.

I guess the main point was this

Which of course yet again is hugely useful when i want to know if my P38 is that easy to nick.

I do not know.

But I do realise that whatever was used in 90s technology for immobilisers or otherwise is by no means an absolutely perfect system or all vehicles would have an EKA
For all I know the guy that wrote the BBS book also wrote RAVE
