You don't even know if it is a fuel problem, unless you have checked the air intake pipes first.
And that is the pick up, you just remove the ring of screws, and take it out and look at it.
And I am fairly sure Tdi are self bleeding.
The Tdi is self bleeding, saves a load of faffing about when working on it.
I had the same problem on my RRC 2.4 VM, it turned out the sedimenter hadn't been drained for years (before I bought it) and the whole system was blocking up with sludgey crud stuff, and I know not all defenders have sedimenters, but still could be crud in tank perhaps.

Yes have looked but looks like the sedimenter was left out of conversion. Just dont know how to check in the tank filter

James is right......it’s always going to be a lift pump iv had 2 90’s now and both have had running issues....even after testing the lift pump and it looking kinda like it works I still changed it a they fired up straight away...try sort a better one than a £15 ebay one

Oh sorry i missed the fit new lp part of your message somehow. Will get one ordered asap and keep u updated.

Cheers jamesmartin
you mentioned lift pump top moved, it shouldnt it is likely to reduce pumping and let air in, so it needs doing first whether there are other issues too

Don't know if you have ordered one yet but if you haven't make sure you get a good branded one, I use Delphi. The cheap no name lift pumps have a justifiably bad reputation and the last one I fitted didn't even last a month.
