Hi There,
My partner booked in with Williamson Components to have his van engine repaired, there was a lot wrong with it according to the company. He has paid almost £5,000 to them and we are now having trouble getting his van back, we live down south by Portsmouth and have no idea where his vehicle is. We drove to an address in Wolverhampton on Friday and when we got there found it deserted. He received a call yesterday to say the final payment had been received and that we could collect the van today however because of work commitments he could not collect today, we are trying to arrange to pick it up Friday but are both obviously anxious after reading this thread. On one hand I don't understand why they would call him to arrange collection if it was a scam but then the sheer lack of communication and not actually being able to pin point their location has us increasingly worried. He only bought the van last year for 12K which he took out a loan for, if we cant get his van back then this is going to ruin him financially, I really hope it is a misunderstanding and we get it back but we are so worried and stressed about it.
My question is for the guy who got his vehicle back, did you literally just go there and take it or did you make arrangements with them?
Thank you
A friend of mine who has a recovery truck went to collect it for me, they make out your issues are worse than they actually are. They use the cheap price and detailed ad on eBay etc to lure people in and then they slap us with the extra ££££ knowing full well we are helpless and we’ll just go ahead, when they told me it’s going to be an extra £2700 I demanded my van back. They got very unprofessional and said my vans in a million pieces good look sorting it etc
Shocking attitude, I think you’ll get your vehicle but as others have said the job may not be up to scratch. I have had parts stolen out of mine, New turbo missing small window missing, wrong battery, wheel Jack missing they’ve thrown all the old engine bits in the back of my van it’s a total mess and it looks like it should be in a scrap yard.

Good luck with yours, your gonna need it…

This is the state I received my van in

lt's incredible that these people can trade for literally decades under various names and nothing can be done about it.

l think that HMRC are the only ones with real power, and so long as the company are paying their taxes (and it looks like they do submit their accounts on time) they won't intervene.

But if they are claiming VAT & not registered I would have though hmrcc would be straight on the case ?

Unless they are claiming that their turn over is under £85,000 they'd have to register for VAT.

Are they charging VAT on invoices?

They put it on the invoice. With no VAT number.
If they were a stand up good business with faith and honesty in their work.
They would be able to take Visa and Master card and not use an off shore Bank Transfers.
They do this so that you CAN'T get your money back through the credit card system for their s**t work.
THIS IS A CLEVER SCAM. Legally you/we gave them the car.
As long as they get your money your vehicle or both. Jobs a good un.
maybe
We should have a mothers meeting at the workshop site.
Disrupt business for the day.
something needs to be done.

Can peeps put up the direct link to the ebay adverts that tricked them into using the scam garage.

HI the Williamson Components ebay site is difficult to get to on eBay site.
It appears on the Williamson Components google search. On the Google page it has the link to Ebay

UPDATE
The link from Google to Ebay appears to be closed. Also I can't seem to find it on eBay.
So something is going on.

Thanks Chap

An eye for an eye….. would hate to see this car treated like mine has been. I’m only putting two and two together but only a complete c*unt would park like that across two spaces and the number place is a small give away. Guessing it has to be his

HI nice one chap. Keep this kind of information coming

What I've been told by a solicitor is
1 The garage was asked to take clients vehicle
2 The vehicle cannot be removed until bill is paid it is illegal to remove said vehicle.
This is how they are getting away with it.

How we get them is through Trading Standards for poor repair work and not adhering to contact.
We need more people contact Trading Standards to shut them down.
But it took 5 years for Wolverhampton council to shut them down
Then they moved to Telford.

Hi just had the results from the investigation.
Nothing will be done.
They are free to Fukk us all.
NOTE
If you have had deals with this company and feel scammed contact the Action Fraud Police Trading Standards and your Bank Fraud Department.
If we do not work as a collective we all fail and they will continue with their failed business.
more bad news
The Ebay site is back up.

Thanks and Good luck.

Yep, they've been doing this since 2010 and there are many threads on various forums.

Effectively in the eyes of the law and trading standards they are just a very poor car repair business and in that respect there's nothing actually illegal in what they are doing.

A lot of the parcel delivery companies get thousands of terrible reviews about damaged parcels, failed deliveries, failing to honour insurance etc and they keep on trading, nothing is ever done.

lf the car repair business carries on paying their taxes and submitting valid accounts, they will still be trading in another ten years time.

Yes I fully understand the situation.
BUT... THIS CAN NOT CONTINUE.
As the police consider this out of the remit. I have chosen a new avenue of prosecution.

As of this morning Citizens Advice have contacted me and are raising this directly with Trading Standards as they have records of the Wolverhampton affair.

I only lost a few thousand and got my vehicle back but they are others who have lost a lot more. I in fact have the time to pursue this all the way to their back teeth. These scammers and others like them are exploiting this country and it's laws to get rich.
Why?......Are they not happy to be here?
THIS IS NOT RIGHT.
The more victims come forward the less likely these people will think they will get away with it.

I am considering doing a youtube video to enlighten people to this scam. If people want their story told.

Please don't give up others will fall into this trap.
