I'm asking for help for my dad, i have just fitted a electric aerial in my dads mark 1 land rover and its all installed but i need to connect a red wire to a source (+) with a 5amp in line fuse. Can anyone tell where i could connect this the close to the stereo. i connected it to the + on the stereo lead but the aerial won't go down when the key is turned off in the ignition.http://srx.uk.ebayrtm.com/clk?RtmCl...1d911260a0aad4a67436ffce37cf&m=145986&pi=3286

The fusebox under the steering wheel will have a + when the ignition is on, however if the stereo has the usual iso connector then theres an output for the electric aerial, it goes + when you turn on the radio.
I found this on the net, just do a google for 'car radio iso connector pinout'

ISO Connector found on many stereos
POWER
1=Earth
2=Illumination
3=Battery
4=N/C
5=Ignition
6=Auto Aerial (another live input on VW Betas)
7=N/C
8=Phone mute
SPEAKERS
1=Left Rear(1)
2=Left Front(1)
3=Right Front(1)
4=Right Rear(1)
5=Left Rear(2)
6=Left Front(2)
7=Right Front(2)
8= Right Rear(2)

Right i'll have a look at that then. The stereo my dad wanted me to fit has 2 iso sockets at the back so i connected the iso plugs that matched but there is another iso plug that just has 2 wires connected and the wire colour IS red and the other black. I've never fitted anything in a land rover in my life so this is new ground for me. This is my dads l rover below.

There I was thinking who would want to fit an electric aerial on a Series One Land-Rover!

So i gather i'm in the wrong section then by those comments, thinking now my dads car is a discovery am i right. He has only just brought it and i know nothing about these at all.
