Does anyone else suffer from this affliction? I'm new to Land Rovers, I bought my disco 300 tdi in August last year, and I'm already paranoid. In fact, the more I learn and the more I do to my land rover, the more paranoid I get! I drive along straining my ears, listening for unusual noises. Sometimes, I'm sure I hear noises that aren't really there. They just appear, then disappear. I'm gradually working through a long list of jobs that I feel need doing to keep on top of things, but the more jobs I do, the longer the list gets!

The other day, I'm sure I heard voices coming from under the bonnet :what:

Haha, I think it's something we all suffer from.

And they are like the Forth Bridge, you're never finished.....

I find the paranoia increases the closer it gets to mot time, because you can guarantee if its going to go pop it'll be sometime between booking the mot and turning up for it.

Now mine's booked in for wednesday morning, so until then, I'm walking.

Yup I reckon everyone gets the paranoia. Mine has been driving brilliantly for the past two days, handles better and goes like **** off a stick. I haven't done anything to it so I'm wracking my brains like mad to try and figure out what could be wrong lol

As I was driving up to Ayr
I heard a noise that wasn't there
It wasn't there again today
Oh how I wish it'd go away

Same with TVR's I'm afraid - when I first got into them I had heard so many horror stories I used to drive along with one eye on the temperature gauge and the other on the oil pressure - driving was not a pleasure - why have I spent 35 grand on a 170 mph sports car that I am driving like a Morris Traveller?

Good news is it doesn't last for ever - in five or six years you will be very relaxed about the whole situation.

That sounds just like when a light bulb suddenly burns really bright just before it pings and goes out.

Get a series - after 6 months you won't hear the noises. In fact, you won't hear anything at all!

In my first year or so of having one it seemed like everything and anything that had gone wrong was a "common fault" to the point that common fault had become a bit of a joke.

My last common fault was busting a hole in the clutch fork but that was over a year ago and the only issue I've had since then is it not liking to start a bit when it's really cold, that and the water in it but I gave up caring about that before I went crazy.

That latest noise wasn't there today and the motor is running smooooooth. There must be something wrong. I'll have to get onto it first thing tomorrow.

parranoias nightmare time.........

I know I have a little noise
I know just where it is
Its under thet massive front
where the landie engine lives
its only just a little noise
but gets louder by the day
so I just keep a listen out
waiting for it to go away
its been making little rattling noises
well, fer a month or two at least
But I just keep putting it off
its a disco doosel, not a ferkin beast

Enjoy :)
