After being sent this image at the same time as my son needing a new bed it got me thinking. The kids love my Land Rover so how cool would A Defender bed be for a 7 year old. So out came the graph paper and a scale rule to work out the dimensions. This Defender had to look right and also fit in the room. So I started by measuring My Defender.

The dimensions did not work it was too long. So a modified plan was needed. Defender 90 not 110 perfect. The calculations done 66% scale. This will fit a single mattress in and work with a sheet of 8 X 4 to keep costs down. Then to the plan what will work.

  • Doors
  • Bonnet
  • Wheels
  • Lights – maybe
Shopping started 5 sheets of 18 mm 8X4, 2 lengths of 47 mm X 100 mm timber and 4 casters. The project started like all good builds with a solid chassis.
