Hi all im daz i have just got my self a 200tdi 5 door very clean and tidy with only 81,300 miles on the clock with all service history.
I do have 1 problem with this when driving at 50-60mph and hit the most smalist bump in the road the steering shakes like the trackings out the steering wheel shakes like mad then the hole motor shakes like mad you just have to slam ya brakes on its that bad
it had £500 spent on it to fix it but still dose it. This is what has been done

wheel balanced
fit new steering damper
remove propshaft
strip axle end reset bearings

fit 2 brand new tyres to frount

all this was done by

but still it has the problem iv asked otheres and i get told all sorts like check the king pins then i get told these dont have king pins i just need it sorting please can some 1 help

What about the swivle pins, and there bearings. mine went and it gave a bad wobble, worth alook however there should be a pre load on these i think its 14nm

The swivle pins sit inbetween the swivle(sliver ball at either end of the front axel) and the hub. easy check take the wheel off grab the disc top and bottom and rock it up and down, your looking for movement between the swivle housing and the axle

where abouts are you based? if you put up your location someone may be able to help in a practical way,

ron.

seems like they charged you for just about every job they could think off.why didnt they diagnose the problem first without just replacing parts everywhere
