Hi all,

I insure my Defender through Lancaster which last year cost me £179 for the year. Had my renewal through yesterday for £238.

One phone call later during which I added the 2" lift and rock sliders as mods and increased the value by £1k they renewed it for £185.

A whole £6 rise and now with all the mods added and value increased .... it sure does pay to talk ;)

Got a quote from them online for the TD5 disco £743 tried Sureterm £704 then went compare the muckit Sureterm £689 took the no claims protection off £241.

Settle for an online quote and you'll pay more ... call them up and discuss the quote and they'll check with the underwriters and knock a chunk off it. :)

How bizarre, I had the opposite - a few mods like rock sliders and wheels and my quote doubled through Lancaster! Callad Frank Pickles and it had the opposite effect.

Price with Lancaster went sky high when I added the mods online but when I specified them over the phone they did all they could to get it close to the price I paid the year before ... can't fault that considering I added a grand to it's valuation too :)

I'm 42 years old and enquired about insurance for 110! Only have motorbike insurance so have no ncb to use. The policy I took out required 3 years ncb, so was offered 3 years ncb as new customer!!!! Crazy a ?

I would have been delighted with that, mine was on the phone!!

LOL - did you overhear the conversation then?? A spookily accurate description of my lasting memory of the phone call!

I think I must have been lucky then as I spoke to a young guy who sounded generally interested in Land Rovers and also had a little knowledge of them. Wish I'd got his name now.

Just got insured through Lancaster myself. They were cheapest by far, around £330 - not bad as I have no NCB. Always best to speak to someone - I had to beat 'em down to get to that price.

Good stuff fella ... I just hope that none of us ever have to find out how good the paying out side is

Insurance is probably one of life's must have, if you own a car/bike, however we all allow ourselves to be ripped off year in year out by insurance companies more than happy to take your money.
If every one on this forum to start with were to say to hell with our current insurance companies, and everyone go to the sameone, the robbing bastards would start to worry about the cash they'd be losing.
Only a thought as people will not stick together, same as sky hight fuel prices.

Good point well made! Has anyone under the age of 21 ever managed to get insured? I'm 21 in aug and really need to change insurance companies cos admiral ****ers wont let me change my engine!
