I have just booked my vogue in to have service and nik naks done in time for winter. Was thinking of asking them if they can flush and change oil and filter in gearbox.its done nearly 60`000 miles and thought it would do no harm to freshen it up.Is this possible with these sealed for life boxes ?? Has anyone had this done ??? :D:D

Lol
No sealed for life boxes !
All gearboxes need servicing ! Especially the l322 early boxes !

sounds like a must then..any idea what they charge for that with filter etc. Hopefully the garage i use can do this..if no is it a main dealer job ?

I only trust automatic transmission specialists for jobs like this. Main Stealers and some Indies will just make it worse. I entrust my 'box (oh-er matron) to Stephens Engineering. Auto Gearbox Specialists | Automatic Gearbox Repairs | Automatic Gearbox

As people have already hinted, the transmission fitted to early L322s lives on borrowed time as it is. Drive it like a hearse until you get it done!

Because of the chronic valve block spool/bore wear issues suffered by the GM 5L40-E transmission in the TD6 L322 it's important to use the Texaco Texamatic 7045E fluid - and use a genuine Filtran filter too rather than a cheap pattern part.

What were Rover thinking of going back to GM transmissions with the L322? Oh yes I remember - **** the car - let's save a few quid!

I keep getting 'trans failsafe mode' warning after 10 minutes of driving. nothing changes and gearbox still works as normal and system resets itself when ignition is turned off
Any clues??
Also I'm thinking of changing oil and filter, does anyone know how much oil and what type as my manual says 'filled for life'. Its a l322 3.0 diesel so the gm box I presume
Thanks for help
