I have an inside contact at Land Rover in the UK who tells me that from the 02/06/2008 L/R are going to write to L322 owners to offer a 'reassurance' re-build of the infamous front diff, they have developed a kit which in effect turns the diff into the new type 06 onwards vehicles.

They will be writing to owners to offer this service free of charge which takes 4-5 hours in stages to avoid swamping Land Rover dealerships with the estimate 35000 affected vehicles.

I would suggest that owners make sure that they are registered as current owners with their respective dealers.

Anyway, I thought this info would be useful to you, not so useful to Britpart and Atlantic British who have developed an aftermarket kit!

Regards,

Andy

I have my L322 booked in for diff replacement, my quick question is will they frown upon me having 22" non standard wheels on it ? The diff hasn't gone but am taking advantage of the free recall, but am not sure if they would void any other claims in the future.

Thanks...............Adam

anyone with a hint of good taste would frown on stoopid bling bling 22" wheels ffs!
what are you - a pimp or a drug dealer?

Land rover wont write to owners, the dealers will write to the owners on their database.

I think I must have done about 200 diff updates since the campagne came out. Do 'em in my sleep now!!

Hi i hav a 02 mk3 generation rr,the front dif failed completely about a month ago,[drive loss/heavy squeal] RAC recovered it to a non franchised dealer, thinking the worst[transfer box as indicated by the RAC ] The following day i called Statstones, spoke to a engineer, who confirmed it to be the front drive shaft! and to my relief told me that this is on a recall by land rover, hence the car was transfered to them, the same day,at a cost of £100 I HAVE SINCE RECIEVED THE £100 and the car was repaired in 2 days..

Hi i have 22" alloys, and have had the new dif fitted, i had to contact the local franchised dealer, and wasnt contacted through the DVLA as the registered owner!!!

Hi
I have had the front diffs replaced no questions asked, just rang up booked it in, they loaned me courtesy car etc. The booking in date was about 2-3 weeks because of curtesy car availability.

BUT Warning I had my L322 serviced (by my Indy) about 3-4 weeks after the repair/recall and they spotted that the N/S/F diff seal was leaking oil, this has been caused by the dealer and my Indy has seen a couple of these. I rang the dealer back to arrange repair and it is being done next week FOC obviously. My warning is that I was lucky enough to have this spotted for me as I wouldn't have looked under the car for another year and so the loss of oil could have caused a Diff failure. This is going to be a rarity but please check under your car a week after it has been replaced.
