Hi, I have a 2002 L322 4.4. Car drives fantastic with no lack of power etc. If left standing for an hour or so it will crank for 10-15 seconds like pulling fuel through and then run no problem at all. After this you can stop and start it as many times as you like and its fires straight away. Someone has suggested that it might be the fuel filler cap as there is no pressure release at all when you remove the cap. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks Kev

Cap should be sealed as venting vapour to atmosphere is no longer allowed, check the breather and the vapour trap.

i had similar issue although 5-10 seconds to start. i changed the plugs and the pcv its brought it back to 2-3 seconds.

The attached may be of interest as to how to test the pressure control valve and i have also added a little shopping list of the main pipes that feed the various parts of the PCV although i am not certain that is all of them.
Changing the PCV can be a pain if you have a look at SaintV8's how to thread.
Here is a link to where i purchased mine, the part number is LKR000040

There is a thread or post somewhere on here of me checking mine using the manometer.

The pipes turning to mush is very common and everything is conveniently hidden right at the back of the engine.

It's worth checking everything as it's a common fault but may not solve your slow starting issue.

PCV Hoses and Valve won't cause poor starting! lumpy idle and misfire codes often times, but I have not heard of it causing starting issues.
