hi , I think the noise is coming from the rear offside wheel. Feels like there is a large stone suck in the tyre but when gently applying the breaks it goes away. So must be break related. Any thoughts?
Doesn't seem to do it at low spin. I.e when I rotate after jacking. Have to get up to 30 then slow down.. Totally disappears when gently applying the break. Can't think what the rear drum could be doing if it's ok after breaking
Support the axle then try it ...
With the weight on the suspension the sound and stresses are different ...
Check that the mud shield isn't rubbing and giving the noise ...
Ok sorry for delay on this. I jacked up and rotated each wheels by hand. Each wheel will turn about half a turn before stopping. I can continue to turn but it's harder. Feels maybe that it's binding on the brakes. Drivers side is worse.
I checked UJ and they are all ok. No play in the prop shaft. Other than the free play from the transfer box .
I'll remove the drums when I get some more free time and see what's going on inside
You need a brake from working on breaks sometimes. Breaks that stick on tight are known , in the trade, as breakfast.
Don't brake your breaks cos that's a brake down.
Etc
Feel on the werds fer play while yev got yer wiles up, prob shafted. Them's the brakes.
Check out yer hump bears, stump axes, and halfprods wheel yer under thar.
Fudge. I do believe my hinges have finally chrome a compleat and terminacious popper.
yay - then you too can have a locking rear end spin under hard braking due to the calipers needing less fluid than the drum wheel cylinder to lock up.....
