Hi all,

Have have Ben trying in vain to find a lost set of keys in my discovery for the past few months, I know it’s there because I can start the engine without the spare set. Does anyone know how I could find them as I have looked everywhere. Land Rover said they could have a look but it will cost £180 per hour!

Can anyone help?

Sounds like a subtle nightmare, a mechy / technician would charge half that and then some.

Good luck.

£50/hr and I'm free on Saturday.

Is it a smart key with push button to start? (Guessing)

Drive up the road a bit, stop the car and see if it still register the key.

It’s behind you:)

Have you tried to lock it with the spare? If a smart key is in the car I believe it won’t lock?

How long have you had the car?

I lost my temper once. Found it again.
Lost a Blutooth hands-free in the car too.
Could not find it and bought a new one.
6-months later guess what slid out from under the drivers seat?

“Have have Ben trying in vain to find a lost set of keys in my discovery for the past few months”
Perhaps Ben is an x drug sniffer dog, so unfortunately hopeless at finding keys.

I’ve looked under seats tried to get into the dashboard even on the back seats (I’m sure it can’t work from there) but no joy. We know it’s in the car because we can start the engine when the spare set are in the house I’ve even looked into a frequency receiver to find it but looks like I need to make one. I also offered a friend a bottle of Prosecco if she could find it (she likes a challenge) but again no luck!

Make sure your not wearing the same jacket & left it in the inside pocket. (Don’t ask )

Serious note
Glove box
Under seat
In the rear (put down with the shopping)

Which car is it? My D4 will start as long as the key is in the car somewhere! Even in the boot with dogs. How do I know? :):):) It can be in my handbag, shopping bag, dog poop bag carrier, any where! And no, the car won't lock with the second key if the first one is in the car.

Can't be that smart, you can start the car without it

It’s close,

If its open and running it can be driven away without the key in the car, if it’s in the car you can’t lock it, or it won’t auto lock.

If you stop and open the back to unload the shopping (or dogs) and put the key down it won’t lock.

If it’s properly locked on the fob it’s fine.

Something else is going on here me thinks;)

You're just going to have to talk to it nicely and ask very politely for it to divulge the hiding place.:)

I had an old pair of work trousers and an L322 key fell through the pocket and into the leg lining!

Had a heart attack trying to find it, only to notice this lump by my ankle!! lol

Another was a diesel Micra 2003 with a wireless key..

Kept it on the dash while i took it for a test drive, went round a corner and it flew off the dash and out the window!

LOL

Did find it eventually!! ;)

What about getting a large sheet of tinfoil and systematically block off different areas to try to narrow the search by blocking the signal.
