hi all,

my key fob worked then 20 mins later i go to open the car and nothing every alarm under the sun

managed to ring land rover and get my EKA code. after a few times it finally worked. has this turned off my immobilizer for good until i lock it with the fob or what?? so if it has the car should start every time till i get fob working

has the fob just run out of battery or is there something being the root of the problem?

i know there are quite a few threads on this but any help would be muchly appreciated

Go to the discovery section and look at the first stickie, in there you will find an attachment ref the alarm issues.

The immobiliser will reset after approx 5 minutes once you leave it.

Did you read the attachment?

This is a good reason to have a second key fob and know it works. Takes the question mark out of one part of the system.

i do but its at home and im not there but i noticed in the attachment that the batter is a cr2032 just taken my fob apart and its a cr1220 one which is alot smaller the fob i have at home is missing the lock button also which is why i use this one

Oh ,

Interesting, that is not a std Key fob for a D2. Where did you get that?

Std ones look like no 1 in this picture.

it was the one i got with the car... there was a previous problem with the barrel as a key got stuck in it with the previous owner. so all the locks were changed plus the barrel. and this key was changed.

It looks like both @neilly and I are going to have to modify our advice to "The original, standard Land Rover fobs use a CR2032 battery (but some people have just got to be awkward!)"

The advice about replacing the battery in the first place still holds though.

haha yeah possibly sorry to be a pain and be different ill pick up a new battery at some point tonight and see if it sorts it

That looks like a Mini one Key fob internals.

I was sent one from a bay of flea seller, it got sent back because there is no 6 digit code for programming.

Maybe it was programmed with the original barcode vie testbook.

where is the best place to pick up a normal one? land rover themselfs or is there someone on the interwebs that can do them

Hey,

If it works , then I would not worry about it.

If you get a replacement, you would still have to get the car programmed to accept it.

Ref you broken one, in the attachment there is a website for a company that will fix yours for a cheap price.

Okay so it's not the battery grrrrrrr

But the other broken key locked it when I got home last night so I thought it was the battery but I've changed it today and nothing has happened

OK,

So does the broken key unlock it? try using a paperclip if the switch is still able to be pressed. Or to bridge the contacts.

Well I've just been down to land rover to give them my documents as they gave me a eka in good faith as I named dropped my dad who has been a good customer for years and years I'll take apart the other key to have A look what's happening with the unlock button

Just had a look at the transmitter and there is a cable not connected to anything? Should it?

If it works with the other fob, then it looks like it may be redundant.

Does it look like it has come loose recently?

If you can find someone local who has a nanocom, then they can check what signal is being received etc.

Also, if you get a 2nd hand key from bay of flea they can program the car to receive it.
