The UK was known as the sick man of Europe pre Thatcher with huge national debt, post Thatcher, what had not been destroyed by restrictive practices did quite well and the national debt was lower than it had been since before WW2. Sure she also did a lot wrong too, but compared to OESI she was pretty good. OH and it was the unions with their Marxist leaders that started f*ck you I'm all right, corpses piling up, rubbish on the streets over ludicrous demands all helped by hopelessly weak management.
