The wife has just had to be recovered by the AA, she was going up the A1 to doncaster when she broke down, luckily my 19yr old son was in the car with her. The AA fetched her straight home without diagnosing any problems and then sent a mechanic out to have a look at it, the car was loosing drive as if it was dropping out of gear (P38 2.5 dse auto) so I was expecting the worse, turns out the transmision fluid was low! the AA guy put half a cup full of oil in it and hey presto!:) I need to have a good look around it tomorrow to find out where the oils gone to. But at least i'm not splashing out on a new box.

2000 models on don't have a transmission oil dipstick.
They're 'sealed for life'.

The pre 2000 gearboxes must have been lasting too long what with owners checking oil levels!

When I had me Merc (They didn't have em either) The fookin dealers wanted 56 Quid +VAT fer one

So I made one outta some Curtain wire & marked the levels with perminant marker & coloured Insulation tape ...Cost................... About 10p!!!!!!!

Fookin STEALERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
