i have a series 3 and have noticed that the no plate is on the right hand side
but looking at several or hundreds of photos lots of series 3 have the no plate on left is there a right side or doesnt it really matter ..........thanks

Mine's on the right, never been a problem. I think VOSA are more interested in the type of plate rather than it's position. As long as it's clearly visible.

whats a rivett counter ffs

Some one who insists that a vehicle, restored or not, must accurately represent how it was built for it to be authentic. They will check the sublime (that should be a whitworth bolt, not an AF one) to the ridiculous ( the rear nearside quarter is fastened by 13 rivets, 7 of which are painted, and are 1/16th diameter). Are all the screw slots aligned vertically?

Ergo -Anything other than the right number of rivets is disparaged as being imperfect.

On the left if spare wheel originally fitted to rear door, on the right if not.
